Is there much to choose between discs from the main dealer and those from a Motor Factor? Is a disc a disc (provided it fits and runs true) or can there be problems?

I have previously mentioned that on my old late 80s car that the battery light sometimes glows at various brightness levels, from very faint to quite bright to not on at all. I don't think the battery is getting properly charged as the battery

I've seen several posts about Golfs having the same exact problem: engine cuts out as you slow down (e.g. at a T-junction). We took my wife's car (N-reg i.e. 1997-8, petrol, 1.4? not sure) to a VW dealer who did diagnostics and came up with 3 things that "have to be done":

Hi, i have a ford galaxy and the front four windows dont operate on the switches, what is confusing me is that the rear venalation windows work, according to the owners manual the fuse runs all siw windows, please has any one out there got ant idaes on this problem.

I have to send the O2 sensor i got back as it was the wrong one!!! They cant supply either and suggeset Volvo again !!! I might try a universal one, but do I need Zirconia (hopefully as theyre cheap) or Titanium (not cheap!!)

My ford escort turbo diesel's water pump needs replacing. I'm going to ring up some garages on monday - but how many hours labour am I looking at here? Obviously they'll have to top up the system with coolant too. Whant to be prepared for the quotes.
