When the engine is cranking, should the glowplugs still be powered on a
picasso HDI?

I have an 'N' reg 2 litre mondeo, when I turned the key, I get a click,

I have previously mentioned that on my old late 80s car that the
battery light sometimes glows at various brightness levels, from very
faint to quite bright to not on at all.

I've seen several posts about Golfs having the same exact problem:
engine cuts out as you slow down (e.g. at a T-junction). We took my
wife's car (N-reg i.e. 1997-8, petrol, 1.4? not sure) to a VW dealer
who did diagnostics and came up with 3 things that "have to be done":

I have to send the O2 sensor i got back as it was the wrong one!!! They
cant supply either and suggeset Volvo again !!!
I might try a universal one, but do I need Zirconia (hopefully as

My battery went flat and since then I have been trying to work out how
to reset the petrol etc LED which just flashes.

My Rover 100 has been standing idle on the front over winter.  I have
just checked the oil level and it wasn't even registering on the dip
stick, I have now put in 2 litres and it is still only just at minimum
level.  The car doesn't have an oil leak. Is there any way oil can

My ford escort turbo diesel's water pump needs replacing. I'm going to
ring up some garages on monday - but how many hours labour am I looking
at here? Obviously they'll have to top up the system with coolant too.
Whant to be prepared for the quotes.
