Fiesta immobiliser12 Apr 2006 15:31 GMT8
My daughter's Fiesta 93 1.3 has developed a problem.
The immobiliser (chip in the key) does not work most of the time. You have
to turn the ignition on and off a few times before it allows the car to be
started.  It happens with various keys.
Range Rover Sport Suspension problems...12 Apr 2006 00:50 GMT28
I'm just posting to ask if anyone else has experienced problems with
the new Range Rover Sport. We just bought it, 4.2 Supercharged, brand
new ('06 reg) from a Land Rover dealership with all the extras and have
found it to be an excellent SUV, barring the extreme fuel consumption.

Brake discs11 Apr 2006 18:43 GMT17
Is disc wear a recent phenomenon? At one time they sometimes got distorted
but I have just been told that my 28k mile car needs new pads and discs. I
consider the pads to be 'wear out' items - but why the discs?
I presume that the thickness is something that Dealers check because ...
Mondeo 1.8 TD 199911 Apr 2006 18:33 GMT1
I have one of these cars, it starts well but recently developed a fault
where once its been warming up a couple of minutes (but still way short
of normal operating temp) its starts juddering and producing blue

Ford Escort 1600 Automatic (1996) - pulling away problem11 Apr 2006 18:20 GMT6
There's been a noise (whine) coming from my gearbox area for the past couple
of weeks. Only when the car's cold & goes within 15 minutes.
Now the last few days when it's cold I'm using an extra 2000 revs to pull
off when the car's a bit cold. There's also no pull from stationary. ...
No fire on #3 cylinder?11 Apr 2006 14:54 GMT28
A Daewoo Lanos 8v sohc which is not firing on #3 cylinder and idling
very lumpy. I checked this by pulling the HT leads from each sparkplug
in turn as the engine was idling.  The engine revs drop to almost stall
when I pull the leads to cylinder 1, 2, & 4 but make no difference ...
Citroen AX Alternator11 Apr 2006 14:52 GMT2
A friend has a 1994 1.1L AX which needs a new alternator. The car is in
Exeter and I'm in Bristol and I want to get a second hand alternator
from a scrapyard up here then go and fit it at the weekend.
My question is, will an alternator from any AX of that rough vintage do
Caliper on Fiesta Mk 511 Apr 2006 14:52 GMT8
I've just replaced the front pads on my Mk5 Fiesta. On the O/S one the
rubber dust seal had come unseated, exposing the chrome (which looked OK,
especially after I gave it a clean). The piston wouldn't go back with hand
pressure, but went back fairly easily with a G clamp. I ...
Time for a change of car (old Cavalier needs MOT)?11 Apr 2006 13:38 GMT13
My old J-reg 1600, which looks rather (!) rough is due an MOT.
The radiator has a small leak, so it needs topping up every few
weeks. There's a nasty oil leak that appears to come from the
head gasket (I've just spent some time cleaning the grot off to
