I was really stupid today! I tryed to change my own oil. When the oil had nearly drained i started my car and reved it a bit, after a few seconds it cut out and now the engine warning light is on and the alternator light is on. The car does not start at all.

Can someone tell me the location of the Xantia 1.9TD (it's N -reg) reversing light switch as it's MOT time soon and the reversing lights don't always come on. I suspect the switch is at fault (unless any of you know otherwise).

Apologies if this sounds a bit dim, I want to change the wheels on my car (Scenic) from the standard 14" alloys. (They look too small for the car!!) Can I simply put a set of 15" or 16" wheels on and carry on as normal,

Just got hold of a nice 2.1TD Xantia and was wondering if anyone knew what would cause the fron suspension to not rise correctly(ie not as high as it should be) and cause the STOP light to come on and go off randomly?? I think the LHM fluid may be low but the level indicator is ...

2.9 litre engined Ford Scorpios come in 12v and 24v varieties, the 24v version being described as a Cosworth. Is the engine made by Cosworth or does it just have multi-valve Cosworth cylinder heads on a standard Cologne engine?

Having thrown even more money at Mondeo TDCi 115 having diesel pump and injectors replaced I now find that a few times when accelerating hard the engine begins to misfire and the glow plug light flashes. Turning ignition off and restarting engine cures the problem. Any ideas before ...

Currently, my car maintenance tasks are restricted to changing the air filter, checking the oil and blowing up the tyres. But reading through the Haynes manual, I see that most tasks are rated at 2 or 3 "spanners".
