Whats the best fluid for cleaning brake components (not friction matl) ie from leaking cylinders. Petrol, Gunk, Parafin or nothing but elbow grease.

Our Peugeot 306 1.4 1998 is noticably 'popping' when sitting in neutral at 2.5k rpm (most noticable then, but certainly present at lower rate at 2k and possibly lower revs). Car has done about 101,000 miles. Engine runs otherwise fine, always starts first time and pulls away fine ...

I have an electrical fault with my Clio, only the left hand indicators work even when you signal right, the Hazards won't turn off the button will not stay in, and I have no heated rear windscreen. Could these be from the same fault??

I bought a ford mondeo estate diesel 1998 r.reg. The speedo the odometer and the trip meter are not working. Any ideas,I,ve been told it may be the speedo sensor as in 1998 they stopped using a cable and used a sensor instead.

Just had an MOT, and it noted that the front brake shoes were wearing a bit thin. From memory, when I was unsticking the caliper, their was maybe 8mm of material.

Both my Haynes and Peter Russek manuals say when renewing the fuel filter on my Xantia 1.9TD loctite needs to be put on the screws holding the cover on fliter housing. Is this really needed, and why? I fear never being able to get it off again next time.
