Cavalier electric window.28 May 2006 11:59 GMT1
J-reg, '92 I think, 1600 petrol. The passenger window goes down/up
OK but stops every couple of inches before moving again. Is this
likely to be something like a tooth dropped off one of the gears
in the winding mechanism, or could it be something else? I've got
GSF28 May 2006 02:36 GMT9
GSF are often mentioned here. This is a warning to people to double check
that the items they provide for a particular purpose really are suitable.
I bought some transmission oil from them after an email to them to double
check that it was suitable. When it arrived, I emailed the ...

Heated seats - Recaro27 May 2006 23:59 GMT8
I have a VW Golf (when it's not in the garage being fixed, see VW Golf
engine fell out...) and the previous owner fitted Recaro seats front
and back. Ordinarily the car should have heated front seats and
although the plugs are there I don't think the mechanism is fitted into
Honda Accord aircon woes27 May 2006 20:45 GMT6
I have a Honda Accord 2.0 SE, 2001 model.  My wife was driving the M25 today
and the car started making a noise, which to cut a long story short, stopped
when she switched the aircon off.  (Which makes her a lot more mechanical
than me!)  With the aircon switched off the car runs ...

Respray?27 May 2006 14:08 GMT14
Some so and so has sprayed an orange stripe down the side of our silver
Volvo in what looks like permanent paint. Does this mean a complete
respray or are there other techniques for either getting it off or what?

Rear Radius Arm Bearings on Citroen cars27 May 2006 12:37 GMT1

'Don't worry Lofty, my '89 8V GTi does too.  Sorry I don't know where it

failed an MOT on rear radius arm bearings.'
Fiesta missfire ?????????27 May 2006 11:41 GMT4
Just got in and my wife said (as they do) "car's buggered".
Went out to look in the last bit of daylight and found that No's 3 and
4 cylinders are not firing, counting No 1 at the camshaft end.
My assumpsion is that the coil pack has sh.t itself, but it seems a bit
Cat Flange corroded27 May 2006 10:35 GMT3
97 Ford Escort 1.4.  The Catalytic unit front flange is a slip-on type, with
a flared tube.  The cat unit and the end pipes are in reasonable nick, but
the slip on flange is corroded badly, so that it cannot hold the joint
together firmly.
Adrian mentioned this26 May 2006 21:59 GMT7
In the thread on Citroen BX19 GTI interior lights, Adrian said:
'Might be the delayed-off box?'
I responded with 'That sounds promising - where is it located?' but
there was no answer.
Ford Puma Infra Red Type Remote Key Question26 May 2006 18:53 GMT1
My infra red key won't lock / unlock the doors remotely. I've changed
the batteries (in well under the stated 15 seconds), but before I try
reprogramming,  am I correct in thinking that the transponder in the
key - that 'handshakes' with the transceiver in the ignition switch -
Possible dodgy garage?26 May 2006 18:22 GMT4
I have had the bottom end of my engine changed, and now need to get the
air-con re-gassed as the pipes had to come out.
All the parts are sound as the air-con was completely over-hauled by
the previous owner last year. So I thought I'd check with the garage at
Astra Van owners please...26 May 2006 17:05 GMT9
I'm thinking of buying one, something like a '92ish 1.7D to ease my
current fuel expenses (20mpg average on the celica) and to stop me
wrecking it with carrying salt-water-soaked sports kit. Can anyone do
me a quick favour and tell me:
mpv which one?26 May 2006 16:34 GMT8
For my sins, Im on the lookout for a diesel MPV, I have read and
listned to very bad reports about the Galaxy/Sharan/Seat model,
clutches, engine management MAF problems, wiper motors at £500 a throw
etc.
