Engine fault light on Citroen 1.6 HDI24 May 2006 16:50 GMT2
My wife has a Citroen Picasso 1.6 HDi diesel.
About 6 months ago the engine fault light came up on the dash with the
text message "Engine Fault" ,the car would not start, then after a few
minutes it started but the light remained on. Drove the car home, next
Lambda sensor failure24 May 2006 16:47 GMT5
I wonder if anyone could give me some advice.
I have a 3 year old mini, that has only done 13,000 miles.
BMW have just told me that BOTH lambda sensors on my car are
malfunctioning and need replacing at a cost of £450+ !
Air leaks24 May 2006 15:14 GMT5
I have heard that a good way to find air leaks around the engine is to
spray a little easy start around hose connections, and see if the revs
increase.  This seems like it will work, but easy start is pretty
potent.  Is this a dangerous activity?
Is it the windscreen washer motor?24 May 2006 14:44 GMT6
I'm using a 9 year old Nissan Micra 1.3GLX at present, in otherwise
excellent condition and very reliable. However although the windscreen
wipers will work on normal speed and fast speed, the will not work on
intermittent speed. The local Nissan garage have quoted me around £245 ...
Old Honda24 May 2006 12:47 GMT7
I have a D reg Accord that I want to replace this August when the MOT
expires. I am not sure of the best way to get rid of it though. Are the
spares worth stripping out and putting on ebay ? Which bits are
valuable ? Or should I MOT it and sell it complete ? I still see a few
My MOT's ran out, and my tax is due at the end of this month...24 May 2006 12:04 GMT11
Ok, so I've been a bit daft, and let my MOT expire - it was due in
February this year, though I had it in my head that it was due in June
- don't ask me why. Thing is, my road tax needs renewed before the end
of the month. So, aside from the fact I'm going to need to get my
What symptoms.............24 May 2006 11:22 GMT1
.............would one expect from a knackered throttle potentiometer?
Please list all that would apply.  Thanks.  I suspect mine may be buggered.
Rounded screw24 May 2006 09:54 GMT16
I've rounded an old allen bolt in the door handle on my spare golf.
Dremelling a slot into it isn't getting me anywhere due to the fact that
there's a lot of door handle in the way.
Any ideas as to how to undo it? I reckon it's seized up too...
Charging System Diagnosis24 May 2006 00:01 GMT8
1997 Ford Escort 1.4.  Battery is not getting charged, even though warning
light is not showing a problem (ie it lights up at turn of ignition key and
goes out when engine running).  Interesting journey home last night, trying
to eke out the battery by avoiding using lights, ...
Clocking (don't worry, it's legal)23 May 2006 22:50 GMT21
My latest mission for my 1989 Golf GTi is to install some 120mph clocks
instead of the silly 160mph ones a PO installed.  I need to alter the
mileage.  I have the instrument cluster apart, but I don't want to take
the speedometer needle off, hence the face may as well stay on.  HTH ...
Any recommendations re Insurance for young drivers23 May 2006 22:43 GMT7
My grandson 21yrs old has just had his car torched by local vandals.
His insurance company have offered him £235 - He's a bit p***ed off since he
was paying £1200 per year in premiums
I may be able to get him an old Nissan sunny for next to nothing but would
The excuse I was looking for?23 May 2006 21:52 GMT1
To get rid of the noisy old Favorit, that is.
It has developed its first fault in four years: occasionally the engine
speed rises quickly to 2000-2500rpm all on its own. Rarely I feel this when
driving at low revs, but it happens more often when I lift off. A quick rev

NGK plugs23 May 2006 12:02 GMT1
The recommended plug for my car is BPR6ET. I've found some BPR6ES plugs in
one of the sheds; what's the difference?
Is it just that the T indicates a triple electrode?

Mondeo 4 Gear box22 May 2006 23:32 GMT2
I was browsing through Autotrader just now looking for an estate when I saw
a low mileage Moandeo http://tinyurl.com/l58qa. The only thing was it was
advertised as having a 4 speed manual box. Even my old Lada had a 5 speed
box. When did they change to the 5 speed box?
