When I got back from my holiday, the car battery was flat (not that I didn't say to disconnect the battery). It was flattened by the immobiliser and radio at a guess. How can I tell if it's going to let me down next winter?

What paint is that? Is the panel dipped like a car shell is? Quite a few golf bits seem to be done in it, and I'm surprised by how it lasts relatively well.

The cambelt has snapped at 70mph on my friend's diesel Astra. Obviously my first thought is the engine is wrecked, but I'm not sure if this applies to all engines, especially diesels. The engine spins freely and my friend says there was no sign of any sudden thud or mechanical ...

Just been given a saxo 1999 diesel and drives well - high mileage 120k The gearbox is like stirring rice pud - plenty of play and you have to push the gear stick hard into gear. Feels rubbery.

My name is Emyr from Cardiff. I own a 51 plate Volvo v40 diesel. Its a great car - but I have one problem. The lights on the car are very poor. On main beam - the lighting patern is very short - even whith stronger bulbs fitted - I still canot see well enough for safe driving
