'02 Mondeo ST220 "Moosing" problem22 Jul 2006 10:07 GMT4
Does anyone know how to solve the problem with my mondeo which makes a
thrumming/roaring noise ( Ford call it Moosing). I understand it is due to a
particular resonance in the air intake plenums.
I know Ford have resolved this in older models of the mondeo by replacing the

Re Ford Puma steering falure after MOT.21 Jul 2006 22:28 GMT9
A track rod had parted company with the rack.
It would appear that this was due to having both track rods recently
replaced by an incompetent mechanic. Not the same garage I hasten to add.
The track rod that 'fell off' had unscrewed completely, and the one on the
Bora difficult to start21 Jul 2006 19:46 GMT2
My wife's 1.6 petrol VW Bora (51 plate) has become difficult to start.
Sometimes it's fine but increasing if it doesn't catch first time then
it won't start at all and has to be left for 3 mins or so before
having another go. Changing the plugs as part of a recent service made

focus front bumper trim21 Jul 2006 17:48 GMT2
I partially knocked off  the runnber bit on the bottom of the front
bumper on my car,  Has anyone had any experience re-fitting these ?
It's the strip of rubber along the bottom of the bumber , I can't
really see how it's held on there, is it glued in place or is there a
98ish Ford Fiesta - smoking column?21 Jul 2006 13:46 GMT1
My mate rang me up last night to say that his mum's Fiesta's steering column
had started giving off a plasticy burning smell, similar to when an
electrical device is about to go tits up. I reckoned it'd be dodgy
insulation, but how do you get the wheel off to check on an airbag ...
Tyre face penetrated - vulcanise or leave?21 Jul 2006 11:27 GMT42
I come for the wisdom of the group please :->
Just done a routine rotation of my tyres (car, radial tyres).
During the tyre check and picking out of stones I came across
a bit of drywall screw embedded in the tyre tread like this:
Paying Germans for Ebay21 Jul 2006 09:31 GMT17

MOT Question: Knocking differential - failure point?21 Jul 2006 09:03 GMT3
I've got the IRS unit out of my '84 Jaguar XJ6 because I had planned to
swap the current diff, which has a big clunk when switching from drive
to reverse and vice-versa, for a refurbished unit I bought recently.
Unfortunately circumstances have changed and I'm hardly around and
Luck21 Jul 2006 07:50 GMT2
I work colleague once asked me if I could give him a lift to the garage
where his car was in for a service. When we got there the car wasn't quite
ready. It was over a pit with a man trying to find out where the excess play
was coming from in the steering. The owner told me that it ...
Sorry, need to vent.21 Jul 2006 07:19 GMT3
Today was not wonderful except that I won a minor victory in the end.
Too damned hot but I'm sure we're all feeling that.
I've got a couple of weeks off work so some of it is being spent on the
Pug. Today I headed off to a 205 specialist that I've found not far
engine seems to eat fuel after servicing21 Jul 2006 06:31 GMT3
the engine in my 2000 model Opel Astra 1.6 seems to be eating the fuel
a lot quicker now than before servicing.
I recently got the car serviced, the fuel filter was okay the guys said

What value an MOT?20 Jul 2006 23:56 GMT27
Local garage did an MOT on a Ford Puma today. Which it passed.
MOT guy drove it out of the bay to park it, and suddenly one front wheel
parted company with the steering. I haven't got the full story yet but they
reckon one of the drag links on the s/box came off a track arm.
Rear swinging arm bush .. how important?20 Jul 2006 18:11 GMT16
I've just done the MOT work on my (£100 <g>) 180k Rover 218SD (1.9).
CV gaiters (reminding me just why I hate fwd), front anti-roll bar
bushes (£4.15 / pr and next day from old Rover dealer) and a quick oil
and filters change while I was there .. (Total parts £35) ;-)
