Scrap Value?18 Jul 2006 09:14 GMT14
I've got about half a dozen old alloy wheels (OEM style, mainly pepperpots)
and roughly the same number of olde worlde car radiators that no longer hold

Rover Blowing Blue Smoke17 Jul 2006 13:28 GMT6
I bought an N Reg Rover 414 with a blown headgasket last year, as I
already had a K Reg Rover 214 we were advised to have the engine's
swapped over so a couple of hundred quid later had a nice car that was
running well.
Proton cooling system17 Jul 2006 12:47 GMT3
I picked up a Persona 1.6XLi 1997 P plate with 89,000 on the clock, runs
quite smoothly The only concern with it is that about once a week it will
lose up to 2 litres of water from the cooling system. There are no obvious
signs of leaks from radiator or hoses. The oil seems OK, ...
Windscreen replacement on insurance ?17 Jul 2006 08:09 GMT13
I was on the motorway earlier and heard a stone impact... no immediate
damage visible, but upon returning to my car later it had opened into a
12" crack from the bottom of the drivers' side and going into the wiper
path of the screen (I think that automatically qualifies it for ...

I'm posting this on behalf of a neighbour. I'm floored with the flu these

Ran like a dream until she was on the way to the shops. She called me saying

Escort finesse horn problem16 Jul 2006 18:11 GMT2
I have a 1998 escort finesse .  The horn is operated from the pad in the
middle of the steering wheel. The pad also has an airbag in it.
The horn started to come on by itself while I was driving. Not a steady
"blast " of the horn, but short blasts as if there was just a faint ...
Insurance claim?16 Jul 2006 16:32 GMT6
The wife's car got 'dun over' this evening. They took the radio. That'd
be a bottom of the range CD player RDS thing. We still have the fascia
since she's pretty good about taking it with her.
To get in the lovely young gentlemen ended up smashing a quarterlight on
Hot weather startup?16 Jul 2006 09:30 GMT1
In cool weather my Daewoo Lanos 1.4 starts up first turn of the key and
idles ok, but I've noticed when it's a hot day it takes a few spins
longer to start and until the engine has warmed up it will idle a bit
lumpy.  Apart from that it drives ok but I was wondering why it takes
