Pug 205. Repair worth it?13 Aug 2006 13:46 GMT15
My Father in Law has an H Reg Pug 205 Diesel (non turbo).
It's old, high mileage (140k) and has developed 3 problems.
1) Appears to be leaking oil from the head gasket, at the back of the
engine, but this could be linked to 1a), some spanner monkey has damaged
Astra 1.6 2003 Emission warning light13 Aug 2006 12:57 GMT3
The Emssion warning light has latched on permanty on my Astra. What are
likly causes? I did take it down a very dusty road could it just be a case
of new air filter or something worse?
Changing engine mount on BMW 325 E3013 Aug 2006 09:02 GMT6
The rubber engine mounting has broken on my BMW 325 E30.  All the local
motor factors seem unable to get hold of the part, and BMW want 33.71
for this little bit of rubber (and a stopper).  Does anyone have any
suggestions about other ways to get hold of one of these?
Astra exhaust / emissions warning light13 Aug 2006 08:32 GMT18
Booked me and the wife a nice little weekend break in Paris. Set off on
Friday for Heathrow (only have to arrive 30 minutes prior to departure
with carry-on baggage as I had checked-in on-line and had booked BA
Express Parking - you drop it off right outside the door).
How buggered can a caliper be and still be refurbed?13 Aug 2006 01:07 GMT3
I've got some Golf 16V brake calipers that I want to refurb. The car's in
bits, so they can be done on the bench. But they're very very very rusty
looking. Can you just wire wheel them down, or am I more likely to get a set
of working calipers by exchanging them at the factors?
Not all garages try it on12 Aug 2006 16:02 GMT32
Reading through the Focus MOT thread reminds me of a case of
unauthorised work by a dealer a few years ago on my Focus.
I had taken my Focus into a local main Ford dealer for a standard
service. We had agreed a fixed price in advance (they price matched

Another holiday question12 Aug 2006 12:13 GMT10
I guess nobody had an answer on the headlights...
Next question:  Does Europe (specifically Germany) use the same oil
viscosity ratings as the UK?  Will I be able to buy 5W30 Oil for my Zetec
engine off the shelf there or will it be called something else?
Astra 1.7 dti12 Aug 2006 10:55 GMT1
My Astra 1.7 dti (y17dt isuzu engine) had a flat battery I jump started it
disconected the jump leads and after a few seconds the engine stopped and
would not restart.
The car was recovered and eventually ended up at the Vauxhall dealer where
Ford Modeo TDci12 Aug 2006 10:48 GMT1
My 2001 Mondeo has just developed what I can only describe as a flat spot in
its acceleration. This only seems to occur in 4 and 5 and is around the
2000rpm mark. Once above this mark the acceleration is as it was right unto
3500+. Any ideas? Also the central locking has just ...

Mondeo Mk3 Clutch/Flywheel11 Aug 2006 19:07 GMT2
I wonder if the gathered brains of the forum could answer a few
questions for me:
1) Is the Mk3 (2001-) Mondeo with 1.8/2.0 Duratec HE engine always
fitted with a dual-mass flywheel (DMF)?
The Polo Saga continues - whistling11 Aug 2006 18:07 GMT6
There's a whistling noise in my Mum's shitheap of a Polo. 95 1.4 8v by the
way. It seems like it's vacuum related - cruise along at 70 and you can hear
it loud, put the brakes on and it dies away. It sounds like it's coming from
behind the middle of the dash, but I doubt there's ...
