Do not shop at Car Audio Design!!!20 Sep 2006 13:07 GMT3
I would just like to forewarn every on not to purchase any equipment
from a UK online shop called www.caraudiodesign.co.uk.
I refuse to even put the full link this post since I don't even want
them to get and undeserved website hits.
Mk.2 Mondeo towing eyes20 Sep 2006 10:54 GMT16
As you may or may not know, the towing points on a Mk.2 Mondeo are not
fixed, but take the form of a metal eye, which is screwed into the
front of the car through a little hatch in the front bumper and into
that mysterious "orifice" in the right-hand side of the rear bumper as
MOT Test.20 Sep 2006 09:21 GMT27
I was looking at the Tester's Manual on www.motuk.co.uk and was
surprised that there was no mention of the need for  a working
speedometer which I understood was a legal requirement and a sine qua
non for the MOT.
Suspension design question20 Sep 2006 08:43 GMT10
Quick question..... when I qwas replacing the lower arm on the Ka I was
thinking "Wouldn't this be a lot easier if they had used hinges instead
of bushes to connect the arm to the chassis". Presumably it would also
require less frequent renewal of arms. What's the thinking behind ...
Diagnostic software.20 Sep 2006 08:38 GMT5
Read somewhere that it's possible to purchase software that will run
on your laptop and diagnose your car: or maybe interface with the
car's electronic system.
Where can I get into on this??
Sump plug washer - does it matter which way round?19 Sep 2006 22:58 GMT19
Bought a sump plug & washer ready for my next oil change. One side of
the washer is completely flat and the other side has a slight dome
shape. Does it make any difference which way round the washer fits -
i.e, flat side facing the sump or facing the bolt?
SVA Twingo19 Sep 2006 21:38 GMT5
Does anyone have any experience of either getting a euro left hooker thru an
SVA or a twingo at all?
Im aware of the dash issue and headlamps but i can deal with that and was
wondering what hidden costs there are to importing one, ie registration fee
Stilo JTD 115 Dynamic 2003 - Fronts discs and pads19 Sep 2006 21:30 GMT6
Can anybody tell me if replacing discs and pads on this vehicle is
relatively straight forward?  Have done similar jobs on Citroen AX but
wondered if new technology etc might stand in the way of the home mechanic.

Water pump and cam belt gone on a 1996 Vectra Envoy19 Sep 2006 18:57 GMT5
My Vectra died on me the other day. Car lost power and the recovery
bloke said the water pump had gone. Mechanic has looked at it and
suggested that the pump and cam belt needed replacing, then talked
about the heads, valves and other parts possibly being done.
Rover 416 Bushes (Mainly)19 Sep 2006 17:22 GMT9
Just having a pre-mot look about under a mate's Rover 416. All seems ok
but various bushes seem to be suffering from varying amount of (maybe
superficial) perishing although all seem 100 per cent solid with no
undue play.
Transit 2.5 diesel timing - from scratch!19 Sep 2006 11:04 GMT5
Either I or the previous owner has done a stoopid thing, but the timing
on my project's engine is lost. This is a normally aspirated Transit
engine from the late eighties.
I can find the locking holes easily enough in the camshaft pulley and

Upgrade to leccy windows?18 Sep 2006 23:21 GMT14
Is there any gadget on the market for upgrading a manual window winder
to electric.  I was thinking of some kind of motor device that fits over
the splines of the winder to allow operation by switch? Only need one
for drivers side as I'm just getting too idle for all this manual up ...
Faulty petrol gauge18 Sep 2006 23:18 GMT5
I inherited a 1992 Mercedes 300SE but find that the petrol gauge is
faulty.  It shows half-full even when the tank is full and then
suddenly drops down to zero and then back up to half.  Can someone
with the relevant experience tell me what is involved in fixing it and
