Mk5 Fiesta (53) Engine swap21 Dec 2006 13:20 GMT1
A friend of mine has sourced a cheap Puma engine (1.7 Vct, all the gubbings)
and wants me to fit it to his Fiesta.
It's a 53 plate 1.4 Duratec. I presume the wiring differences between the
Duratec and Zetec-SE engines are very different? I've done this conversion

I've got a 2004 Vsauxhall Corsa. I can't find the brake fluid level
indicator! The handbook is hopeless and just says it needs to be taken
to the garage to have the brake fluid checked. Can anyone help?

Basic Car Maintainence20 Dec 2006 19:42 GMT10
Starting your cars engine before draining oil is advisable. Warm oil
will drain faster than cold oil, so let the engine run for ten minutes
before progressing to drain the old oil.

Is RWD really much worse than FWD in winter/snow? Snow chains?20 Dec 2006 16:11 GMT38
Are rear wheel drive cars really bad in the snow/winter weather
compared to front wheel drive cars?
Does this mean they sell less rear wheel drive cars in the
north/scotland becaue of this?
"Forcing" aircon to activate in cold weather20 Dec 2006 14:55 GMT50
I'm paying for being a cheapskate now and not opting for full climatronic
control in my VW Touran.
What hadn't occured to me was that despite having aircon, there would be no
way to force the aircon to activate for demisting purposed in cold weather.

Problem with Ford Ka Headlights20 Dec 2006 09:02 GMT4
I have a Ford Ka, and I changed my drivers side headlight bulb when i
blew about a month ago.  All was fine, until I changed the bulb on th
passenger side yesterday.  This morning the drivers side blew again.
Is this just a coincidence or should I be worried about my electrics?

A while ago, Tim advised me on a misfiring problem I have. It appeared to
be due to a split in a small breather hose. I just recently got around to
replacing it, but the problem still persists. To recap, it misfires and

I have just purchased an "H" reg Volvo 940 SE (2l petrol) automatic.
I have an orange arrow on the dash that tells me that the overdrive is

'Tyre Grip' for winter driving.19 Dec 2006 18:40 GMT28
The posts about winter driving reminded me of a product to increase the grip
of std tyres on snow and ice called 'Tyre Grip'. A business aquantance was
using it, or something similar back in the 80'. According to him it was
excellent stuff.
