Citroen Zantia lambda emissions failure06 Jan 2007 10:22 GMT5
My friend's Zantia has just failed its MOT on Lambda emissions.  She is in no position to torch it, crush it or take up running, so is keen to get it sorted at
minimal cost (if it's even vaguely worth it), or else start walking everywhere.
I guess there could be a multitude of ...

The whole thing, including a new CV boot on the passenger front, oil
Travel Tax05 Jan 2007 15:52 GMT1
The idea of tracking every vehicle at all times is sinister and wrong.
Road pricing is already here with the high level of taxation on fuel.

1998ish Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec with a problem05 Jan 2007 12:51 GMT5
Drives fine but on low-speed manoeuvring, particularly reversing, you get an
occasional noise from the nearside, somewhere between a clunk and a
low-frequency *twang*. It's sitting maybe a couple of inches lower on that
side than on the offside. Guess: it's something related to ...
Strange Noise05 Jan 2007 09:00 GMT16
My Car (Octavia VRS) has suddenly developed an odd noise. If I turn
left whilst accelerating I get a loudish rumble from the front right of
the car. Doesn't do it all when turning right, and is hardly noticeable
if I'm not accelerating.

I've just had a front strut spring mounting break off on my E39 BMW 528.
Wrecked the tyre, but no other damage (other than the strut, of course).
Discovered there was a re-call for this in the US in 2004. But not,
according to the AA site, in the UK. Anyone got a better site for UK
Final thread - car warranties04 Jan 2007 15:31 GMT13
with the intention of buying a fairly newish car (albeit one that will be
out of original manufacturers warranty) I`ve been browsing a few warranty
sellers.  I`m wondering if people here think the prices a rereasonable for
someone who isn`t up to repairing anything worse than a ...
