Category C problem19 Feb 2007 11:12 GMT18
I bought a 4 year old car last year. It is a good runner but came with
no history.
I was gutted to recently learn that it is cat' C.
I have looked all over the vehicle but cannot find any trace whatsoever
P reg Rover 216 power steering belt tension19 Feb 2007 08:25 GMT2
My power steering is moaning a lot, and I think the belt that drives
the pump is a bit slack.
My question is, does anyone know how to adjust the tension? It's low
down and not easily accessible and I can't see anything obvious.
Kalos18 Feb 2007 22:20 GMT5
Just bought a Kalos as a second car.
Pleased with it (yes) but wish the gear lever was a bit further forward.
Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the linkage to throw the lever
knob a bit further forward?
How do I lock the crankshaft on a BMW 320d ?18 Feb 2007 19:37 GMT15
Some of you may recall my recent problem where the main pulley on the end of my crankshaft fell off due to the rubber insert failing.
I have the parts and have created access to the front end of the engine by removing the viscous fan and cowling.
I now wish to undo the large bolt ...

New used car-ABS light on/cost of timing belt?18 Feb 2007 02:30 GMT3
I've just bought a new/used car- 200 x reg(Vauxhall (Opal) Zafira 2.0 Di

The ABS light is on all the time - all other lights go out after few

budget tyres17 Feb 2007 23:06 GMT90
A friend was selling me his astra for £1500.  He did say that  he was
putting some tyres on to sell it (he works in a tyre garage) . The tyres he
put on are new , but are (I think) what you would call budget tyres. The
name on them is austone. Bearing in mind the cost of 4 more ...
Running temperature Ford Focus 1.6TDCi (2006)17 Feb 2007 19:27 GMT24
I am convinced there is something wrong with warm-up time and running
temperature of my car.  It takes about 15minutes to get warm air
through the heater and 20 minutes+ for the temperature gauge to reach
about 83°C (definitely doesn't reach the 90°C marking on the gauge).

Spark Plugs...17 Feb 2007 12:23 GMT17
OK, I have had diesel engines since the year dot and have recently
discovered my knowledge of petrol ignition systems is completely
theoretical... and seems to have a few holes in it!
So, the book of words recommends Bosch HR7 plugs with a gap of 1mm.  AC
Brake lining glue17 Feb 2007 07:55 GMT104
The lining on one of my brake shoes has come off. Anyone know what glue they
use to stick them on with and where I can get some? I see that someone uses
Araldite or some other epoxy resin glue. This may be OK but how heat
resistant is it?
Nissan Micra driver's door swings open16 Feb 2007 21:44 GMT5
I have a 1 year old Nissan Micra and I find that the driver's door swings
open on occasions when driving although I think it is shut properly.  I have
not actually had it happen but my wife finds it fairly often.  May daughter
has  3 year old Micra and also finds the same thing ...
