Peugeot Dealer 'Diagnostics'!15 Mar 2007 00:43 GMT1
Girl here at work bought privately a 106 1.4L petrol recently. Couple of
weeks ago, it wouldn't start at all. Main dealers diagnosed ECU failure and
recommended a new coil pack too (apparently the coil packs die and take out
the ECU). Dealers wanted ~£600 for an ECU so she got ...

Shinny new black car - how to clean?14 Mar 2007 20:14 GMT36
OK, i've done something really daft and gone an bought myself a shinny new
black car, and everyone i've spoken to says that they are hard to clean as
water droplets dry out into nice little round marks. So does anyone have any
advice on cleaning/polishing a shinny new black car?
Renault Scenic DCi 80, P2413 OBD-II "Exhaust Gas Recirculation System Performance"14 Mar 2007 19:52 GMT10
Could anyone please confirm whether they think this is likely to be the
EGR valve?  Is it possible to test/dismantle it to find out? The HBOL
offers no help.
The car's done less than 40K miles and now it suddenly came up with this
VW Polo Petrol Gauge Not Working14 Mar 2007 19:35 GMT4
My daughters 10year old Polo, "P" reg Petrol Indicator stopped reading.
Things I've checked:
At sender unit, connector has 4 wires, non show more than 4.63 volts, yet
two are for petrol pump and that is working fine.
Leaving crack in windscreen14 Mar 2007 17:22 GMT7
I have a crusty P Reg fiesta that has developed a crack in the windscreen.
Apparently a new windscreen costs £150 which seems quite a lot to spend a car
worth about £150.
What happens if I just leave the crack to spread across the windscreen? Will it
Vauxhall Omega - Wheel Scrape after Wishbone Change14 Mar 2007 11:38 GMT5
I've just changed the front suspension wishbones on my 98 omega.  When
i took it for a tentative test drive i found that when the wheels were
turned they would scrape on the back of the wheel arches or mud flaps.
This suggests that I've managed to sit the car lower than usual.

Which Haynes manual?14 Mar 2007 08:26 GMT3
I've an Audi cabriolet, 2.6 V6 1996. Which of the Hayes Audi manuals
can cover this model? I'm aware the cabriolet was based on a 80/90/100
floor plan and shares mechanicals with the others in the range.
Thanks,
Where's my idle speed control valve?13 Mar 2007 23:26 GMT1
My Daewoo Lanos is idling at a perky 2400 rpm, a known problem in this
model. I have learnt from the web that i have to do a procedure which
involves disconnecting the idle speed control valve but i dont know
where under the bonnet it is. Can anyone help please?
Omega 2.5 V6 cambelt tensioners13 Mar 2007 22:08 GMT8
The car in question is an N reg 2.5 V6 Omega (June 96).
If the tensioner was replaced in August 2003 is it likely to be the improved
part that isn't a major liability like they used to be? (Part cost was
around £170, with labour coming it at just over £200).
Diesel Starting Problem 213 Mar 2007 19:21 GMT7
I have come to the conclusion that perhaps the glow plugs are ok and the
relay is ok, it clicks on and off after about 10 seconds.
Once the car has started if I turn it off straight and try and start again,
it will.  I am guessing that it is an air leak?  Is there a hand primer ...
Citroen Xantia starter motor problems13 Mar 2007 18:44 GMT5
My 1996 petrol Xantia began to have starter problems about two month
ago. Sometimes it would start perfectly, but every now and then i
would just make a few clicks. However within two or three minutes i
would always start. This week it just clicks.
Omega MV6 - Position Sensor (Front Lower Suspension Arm)13 Mar 2007 18:26 GMT9
Whilst checking the bushes in the suspension arms i noticed what looks
like a position sensor on the near side front suspension arm.
Does anyone know what it does?
