On an old Top gear that was on the other night, Jeremy Clarkson was saying
that Honda's variable timing kit is so reliable that they have *never* had a
failure ascribed to it.
Any truth in that rumour?
Mondeo external temperature sensor readings16 Apr 2007 20:26 GMT5
Anyone got any ideas what is causing this and, more importantly, how
to fix it? My Mondeo's trip computer's external temperature function
has started misbehaving. With the ignition on, it will give the
correct reading. However, when you start the engine, the displayed

I still can't!

MOT failed on something that seems subjective?16 Apr 2007 12:06 GMT6
Just had my 1994 Transit 2.5D fail its MOT at an independent (no
repairs) place I always use, on "Brake pedal has no servo assistance".
This suprised me as I was not aware of any problem and the brake servo
seemed to be working correctly to me.
Mondeo misfire16 Apr 2007 10:54 GMT17
Hi - new to this group, so "hello"!
I've just bought the first Ford I've had in years, a R/'99 1.8 Zetec Mondeo
with 63k on it and find it has a slight misfire or hesitation around 1,500
to 2,000 revs. It's had new plugs and I've just replaced the plug leads as a

A friend with a 14 yr old rover 214 wants to pass the car to a young
person.
He has never, since new, used the radio (it was shown working by the
salesman) but it has had two new bats which according to the book
Mondeo auto gearbox snatching15 Apr 2007 11:09 GMT8
so I splashed out £500 on a 1998 2.0 Mondeo saloon to replace my M-reg
Peugeot. It`s not bad but there is a glitch with the automatic gearbox
- when pulling away from a stop nothing happens for a second then the
power comes in with a bang so it jerks forward.

Driving down the road in my ZX 1.9D, suddenly clouds of blue smoke and

locked out14 Apr 2007 19:55 GMT16
I have managed to lock my keys into my car this morning.  It's a '96
A4.  Fortunately (I think) it was locked by opening the passenger side
front door and pushing down the button, so I'm thinking there's no
deadlocks in place.  I've tried a '99 key, didn't even fit the lock
What was the car?14 Apr 2007 18:29 GMT3
Saw one today - Two seater I think - doors lifted (swan wing?). Large
wrap around rear window. Looked like Toyota emblem - name on back  something
like Cersa. Possibly 8 - 10 years old.
Any ideas?
