Astra brakes ??11 Apr 2007 19:05 GMT12
My son has bought a 2 ltr turbo Astra 2001reg (nice car) However he was
concerned about the brakes making a grinding noise when braking hard, so we
change the brake pads (discs look fine) as the old one were low (about 6mm
left) although we could not see any obvious metal to ...
2003 Renaul Clio ignition - would anyone know the current?11 Apr 2007 14:42 GMT2
I have stupidly lost a set of car keys possibly right outside my front
door. I am worried someone may steal the car using the keys. If I
replace the immobiliser and two keys it would be expensive, so instead
I am planning to cut one of the wires from the ignition and run it
Fiat Punto 2004 (53 reg) - a few questions11 Apr 2007 12:12 GMT3
Just bought myself a little Fiat Punto from the auctions.  Nice little tidy
car, only 20k miles from new.  Has not come with a owners manual or service
history book, would like to get both of these.  Is a Fiat dealership the
only place to get them?
Auto electricians11 Apr 2007 11:23 GMT7
I couldn't find the fault with the Corsa I mentioned a while back (but
not had much chance to look at it either)... What would be a ballpark
figure for how much a decent auto electrician would charge to sort out a
niggly earth fault? I realise it's like "how long is a piece of

Just had my renewal from the RAC, and at £81 it's too high!

Any recommendations?
Catalytic convertors - what to do when they're not available11 Apr 2007 01:10 GMT13
Someone on the Alfa 75 list has a very late 75 V6, registered Dec. 1992.
Unfortunately, this means it's one of a small handful left that were
registered post-catalyst emissions tests.
They currently are urgently in need of a new cat., but Alfa can't supply
VW Polo 1.9 SDI glowplug light issue10 Apr 2007 22:05 GMT5
On an 02 plate polo, 1.9 SDI, there is an issue with the glowplug light.  It
flashed on the last minute of the drive to work today, and on checking the

Just paying a quick visit to this newsgroup, prior to taking the car

Lost for words!10 Apr 2007 20:07 GMT1
This evening I pulled up next to an ageing small hatch - every single
panel was dented quite badly. Roof, doors, wings, bonnet, with mud
everywhere.
I lightheartedly asked the young driver 'did you roll it?' to which he

2001 1.6 Golf Erratic Idle10 Apr 2007 15:47 GMT7
My 1.6 Golf has been suffering from erratic idle for some time and this has
persisted  despite two visits to garage. I have heard that these symptoms
can be caused by a "Power Steering Switch Fault". Can anyone comment and if
true where is this switch and how do I check?.

I have an old Rover Vitesse, 2.0L DOHC  petrol turbo.
About 9 months ago, always after driving 10 miles, the car would suddenly
start to almost stall ie loss of power, however if I switched the ignition
