Central Locking isn't. Fiat Marea 115 ELX W Reg.08 May 2007 21:27 GMT25
The car is almost at the end of its life so a quick bodge will suffice.
When trying to lock the car all the locks come up again. When the
ignition is on, the red warning light indicating that something is still
open comes on. I've double-checked and slammed everything but no luck.
Most reliable older luxury car?08 May 2007 17:39 GMT31
Bit of a tongue twister, that.
I was looking at eBay and saw a nice '98 (S)  BMW750i.  There's always
one or two of these and I'm not very flush just now so I let it go.
But it made me want to check out the model, so I did some googling.
micra windscreen repace08 May 2007 13:38 GMT9
High speed stone from HVG just cracked my Micra windscreen. There's a
small point of impact hole but then a 7 inch crack running from it.
THe cracl ins not in the line of sight from driving but I suppose a
MOT failure.

Stripped brake caliper thead - Pug 30607 May 2007 23:25 GMT4
Today I replaced the front disc and pads on our Peugeot 306 1998 1.4l
petrol.
Everything was going well until I was doing up the last bolt holding the
caliper in place and it didn't tighten correctly - it stripped.  Rather

Mondeo Coolant Change07 May 2007 16:05 GMT7
I am going to have to do this. It was due last year, and I thought
that I would find some place doing it as a "loss leader" before last
winter, but I didn't.
The problem is that, if I do it outside the house, all the old coolant
Emergency puncture repair stuff ?07 May 2007 15:13 GMT15
There's some kind of aerosol product I guess, being advertised on the radio
presently - can't remember the name - but obviously it seals a simple puncture
and inflates the tyre sufficiently to get you going again.
What are the limitation of use and the longer term implications. i.e. ...
Honda Civic brakes clunking07 May 2007 11:08 GMT4
After changing the front pads in my daughter's 2001 Civic I get a "clunk"
when I apply the brakes the first time in a given direction.
I drive forward, brake, "clunk".  Further driving forward followed by
braking, no clunk.

Exhaust downpipe replaced - but was it done correctly?06 May 2007 23:44 GMT7
I've just had my downpipe replaced by a garage (yeah, lazy I know, but you
should have seen the state of the studs on the cat!).
Anyhow, while watching them I noticed a couple of things:
1/ They reused the old gaskets
Bravo braking issue - it's a bit weird....06 May 2007 23:13 GMT6
1998 Fiat Bravo 1.8, disks at the front, drums at the rear. Disks/pads
replaced around 6 months ago, drums/shoes still have plenty wear on.
Basically, the brakes don't seem to have that much "bite". Sure, they'll
stop me quickly enough but you always wind up thinking you might ...
Audi  A406 May 2007 21:51 GMT1
My brother owns a 1997 Audi  A4, he tells me that the 'lower door trims' ?
have rusted and he's been told that Audi want around £95 each for
replacements.
As he only paid £1,000 for the car he's wondering if someone on this
Over-running Ecotec06 May 2007 10:53 GMT1
Any ideas - in the old days I'd have said timing, but you can't adjust
that on an Ecotec can you?
Car runs / drives ok, and cam belt was fitted around 30k ago by
Vauxhall. It was driving ok, so I don't think it's a tooth out, and
