Hi There, I have a 1996 1300 Ford Escord that has been in and out of
the Garage for the past 2 ,months.
The cooling fan will work for a time then it wont cut in when the temp
goes over normal. I have to pull over and insert a wire to override
Removing cylinder head gasket Vauxhall Astra W reg 1.6 8v11 May 2007 09:51 GMT8
Is it feasible just to (after removing cam belt, head bolts, exhaust
downpipe and cam housing) just to lift the head clear, to change the
head gasket. Without undoing all the pipes, electrics etc.
Or am I just being to lazy.

Recently I have been losing water from the radiator and at first
thought it was the head gasket.
Took to local garage who could not find any problem apart from the
XJ8 Remote Central locking - poor range / intermittency?10 May 2007 09:46 GMT7
My Dad's XJ8 has started having troubles with poor remote range and
intermittent unlocking / locking. It's a W reg, and changing the batteries
hasn't helped, however one remote seems to work a bit better than the other.
Any ideas?
ZX Dash lights10 May 2007 09:33 GMT3
My bird's ZX has a load of broken dash lights. The instrument lights work
fine, but there's no backlight for the clock or heater controls, which is a
bit of a PITA in the dark. Are they easily fixable?
Another thing is that the instrument binnacle lights run constantly, whether

I own a Peugeot 206 2.0L HDI diesel, that has an intermittent problem I am
keen to solve without paying money to the garages.
Basically in the past year I have had three occurences of the following

Seat Toledo Central Locking and spare  key09 May 2007 22:31 GMT1
Hi - a friend has asked me to try and sort her Toledo's central locking -
which doesn't. I've not had a chance to look at the car yet, but apart from
the obvious stuff like blown fuses, where's a good place to start
investigating?
Oil service BMW 320D 200109 May 2007 18:58 GMT1
I wish to do my own oil service on a 320d BMW 2001 model, is it
possible to turn off the oil service light on the dash?
Citroen AX boot lock problem09 May 2007 18:16 GMT1
Has anyone ever had this problem and found a suitable solution:
The tailgate lock in my citroen ax has come loose. It's not the retaining
bolts which have undone, it's actually the studs which are supposed to be
secured to the plastic of the tailgate. This means that the tailgate
Peugeot 306 brake drum bearing problem09 May 2007 17:54 GMT2
I decieded to replace by brake shoes and wheel cylinders on my 306
1997 d-turbo. After a reasonable effort when I removed my brake drum
the wheel bearing fell apart.
My question is: what is supposed ot happen when the brake drum is
micra k10 engine races09 May 2007 13:23 GMT6
Any micra k10 enthusiasts out there? Mine is 1988, 75k miles, has been
running nicely. But since recently, when I press the accelerator pedal
more than about halfway down it seems to stick wide open. Scary -- the
car continues accelerating even tho' I release the pedal! The only way

Castrol Oils09 May 2007 10:03 GMT7
Service time again, so yesterday popped down to the local factors for a
set of filters. Noted they now had Castrol oils, as I wanted some GTD
Magnetec, thought that would save me a trip elsewhere.
But hold on, the range has been revamped, and its all in 4 litre cans.
Espace central (un)locking problem09 May 2007 01:27 GMT13
My nephew has a W reg. Espace that has been garaged for some months.
Pressing the unlocking button on the keyfob has no effect but the keyfob led
works. The dashboard led is not flashing so we presume the battery is stone
flat. All windows are closed and all doors locked.
