Got a Corsa here (1.2L N-reg, 89K, regular services all its life) which
seems to have developed a strange periodic noise from the engine.
At idle it sounds like a cross between a metallic scraping and a rattle
which comes on every 5-10 seconds, then fades out again, lasting for ...

Punto loosing oil at a rapid rate03 Jun 2007 20:03 GMT7
I've posted a couple of times about this but I thought it was due to a

Punto (90K miles) is still going through oil at a reasonable rate
(probably 0.5 - 1l per 500-1000 miles).

I've just bought an old Escort van, the sort with the 'open with any
key' type locks.
I'll be fitting a decent lock on the back door, but that will not stop
someone getting in the front and driving off in it.

Since he had the hydraulic tappets were replaced earlier in the week,
it has had a worsening problem with a misfire between 1 and 2k revs. As
there was some mention by the mechanic who replaced the tappets that
the belt timing had been out [1], I suggested that it might be a good ...
