paint types22 Jun 2007 14:38 GMT13
I've got a 1979 VW camper which I want to respray. I'm confused about
the types of paint available. I'm told that some types are not
compatible with others. What would the original type of paint be, and
is this best for respraying. Also what type of paint do you usually

When cold, it is nearly impossible to get into any gear. There is a

Ford Ka Head gasket22 Jun 2007 08:27 GMT32
My son's fiancée was driving her six year old Ford Ka along the M5 when the
head gasket blew, she pulled it over onto the hard shoulder and called the
RAC who towed it to a garage, which as luck would have it  is just around
the corner from where I live.
VAT threat to MOT fees looming22 Jun 2007 07:58 GMT17
all the talk of the 4-2-2 mot, four years for the first mot then every two
years after that, apparently its in the interest of the motorist saving them
money, but they ( the goverment) appear to be losing interest in the scheme
at the mo as there is quite a bit of backlash from ...
Gearbox oil level22 Jun 2007 00:08 GMT6
Just to be sure..... I'm a software engineer thus diligence and paranoia

I unscrewed the oil level checker plug on the front of the gearbox (yes

Automatic Gearboxes22 Jun 2007 00:05 GMT25
Out of idle curiosity, what would happen if you put an autobox into "Park"
while hooning along at 80mph? Would it lock up or is there an inhibitor?

Nissan Micra21 Jun 2007 23:40 GMT8
Hope someone can shed some light on a couple of problems with my 1997 1.3l

When I depress the clutch when slowing down, rather than the car idling at
the normal 1000revs, it drop pretty rapidly, and then cuts out, or nearly
Renault Megane door handle21 Jun 2007 23:23 GMT1
I've got a Renault Megane 02 reg.
The rear door on the passenger side cannot be opened from the

we went to open it and at the same time the central locking was
Galaxy (2.3) rough idle21 Jun 2007 22:56 GMT2
Been asked to take a look at a colleagues 2.3 but even amongst a few
of us, without tools, we were struggling to find the fault. It has
really rough idle (still keeps itself running but sounds like 700ish
rpm max and then when given a blip of the throttle it revs high and

New clonk from an old Fiesta21 Jun 2007 19:20 GMT4
I hadn't seen this before, so I thought I would share.
An N plate Fiesta came in the other day with a clonk every time she went
over a speed hump.  I rapidly established that it came from the right hand
front, it sounded a bit like the bumper flapping up and down, or as I
Peugeot 306 windscreen21 Jun 2007 11:25 GMT6
What is an 'average' price for supplying and fitting a new windscreen for
a Peugeot 306 in West Midlands?  Source if possible.
Has anybody attempted this (successfully) as a DIY job?
