Hopefully someone can offer some advice with a prolem I'm having with my 2.0 Cavalier. When cold, it is nearly impossible to get into any gear. There is a distinct 'barrier' just as you try to go through the gate.

My son's fiancée was driving her six year old Ford Ka along the M5 when the head gasket blew, she pulled it over onto the hard shoulder and called the RAC who towed it to a garage, which as luck would have it is just around the corner from where I live.

Out of idle curiosity, what would happen if you put an autobox into "Park" while hooning along at 80mph? Would it lock up or is there an inhibitor?

I seem to have a noise coming from around the vacuum pump area on my mazda 323 Diesel. Is this common when there is fault with the pump? The vacuum seems ok the servo brakes are still working. I dont want to buy a replacement until I am sure that this is the problem.
