Battery - what is this?06 Jul 2007 10:38 GMT11
Tried to start the car today - nothing.
I removed the battery (RAC XM400) to charge. It has 6 cells, the cap of
the 4th cell (from the positive) has some kind of glass electrode
attached to it. What is it? Can I safely charge with this cap unscrewed?
Diagnostic Light06 Jul 2007 01:02 GMT8
I have a 2004 (54 Plate) Carisma 1.9 DID, recently the Airflow Mass
Sensor (Part No. M887504) went down, although the degeneration was
gradual until finally it lacked any power at all when the engine was
under load.  As I could not afford the £405 + VAT that Mitsubishi

Quick Question.05 Jul 2007 20:47 GMT19
Can't get a answer from my local Halfords phone number So does anyone know
if I can use Halfords Vouchers anywhere else. I never go in there anymore,
and have £650 worth. Was hoping they are part of some 'group' of electrical
chain that would accept vouchers for a new laptop.
Getting rusty nuts off ?05 Jul 2007 20:27 GMT31
Whats best to get rusty nuts off ? I've tried WD40 left it to soak overnight
and still wouldn't budge. The guy at the car shop where I bought the wd40
said the wd stands for water dispersal so it would not do a thing ?

Bargain air con regas05 Jul 2007 16:22 GMT2
If you follow the A13 into Southend there are lots of car places along it,
one of them on the left has a huge sign outside for air con re gassing at
the bargain price of 45 quid, which is cheap in any case, BUT they don't
charge you if a recharge doesn't make it work!
Low speed engine sutter Touran 2.0 tdi05 Jul 2007 14:58 GMT12
Over the last month or so my diesel 2.0 140ps tdi Touran seems to have
developed a occasional shudder through the driveline when driving on very
light throttle (which I appeciate is a nonsense with a diesel but you know
what I mean).
New Focus ST2 First Oil/Filter Change - Discuss!05 Jul 2007 11:30 GMT16
I've just treated myself to a new Focus ST2.
The supplying garage does a free vehicle check at 1,500 miles.
The engine is running 5W30 semi-synthetic oil (Ford Formula E).  It doesn't
have a special 'running-in' oil, so I was going to have an oil and filter
2000 Mk 2 Punto 1.2 Petrol - doing head05 Jul 2007 02:25 GMT3
Not often I resort to asking for help but this is doing my head.....! Owner
got stuck in flood water yesterday, driving through the car cut out, but
restarted fine as it was hot and they drove the remaining half mile or so
home without incident (other than the heater/cig lighter ...

thingies to keep their battery topped up?
I was thinking of getting one but my car has its cigarette lighter
socket cut off when the engine is turned off.
Ford Escort Boot Lock04 Jul 2007 18:05 GMT4
Another small problem with my 1998 R-reg Ford Escort.
It's a hatchback and over the last few weeks, the boot has been harder
and harder to open with the key.  It now won't open on the key at all.
The key goes all the way into the lock barrel but it won't turn to open
