Ford Mondeo Dead?31 Oct 2007 22:04 GMT7
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Had a drive this morning at about 7am. To escape the house.
I returned at about 7.30 and everything seemed fine.
About 40 minutes ago I took the kids out, to go shopping, and the

Wheel balancer for £72.60 (including delivery)

I would like a wheel balancer and could just about stretch to £73 but
doubt if this one would be much good. Can it tell which side of the
On-car balancing30 Oct 2007 21:47 GMT8
The thread about wheel balancing has reminded me ...
Does anywhere know of a place which does on-car wheel balancing for
cars? Anywhere in the northern half of the UK would be fine ... I
really must get the DS wheels properly balanced, and on-car is said to
Signum mirror not dimming30 Oct 2007 21:04 GMT3
Now it is getting darker, I have just noticed that my dimming rear
view mirror has stopped dimming, and the little yellow spotlight on
the gearstick is not illuminated.  I have 2 possible sources for the
fault that occured in the lighter months:
Vauxhall Astra - Central Locking30 Oct 2007 18:46 GMT4
We've recentley bought a 2nd hand car and whilst the key will
lock and unlock all doors by inserting the key, it wont do it by
just pressing the button.  We have changed the battery and still
no joy.
Nissan Micra oil problem?30 Oct 2007 14:40 GMT2
I saw white steam or smoke coming from under the bonnet just as I was
leaving the dual carriageway. This stopped, then the temperature gauge
started to rise toward and into the red. Before I came to a halt the
"Check Oil" warning light came on and the engine started sounding
Use of jubilee clips instead of pinch clips on CV boots?29 Oct 2007 18:20 GMT11
Anyone have an opinion on this?   Is a jubilee clip likely to damage
the rubber of the CV boot?
Alternatives to those pre insulated butt joints29 Oct 2007 16:02 GMT70
Is there a decent alternative to these? I don't want to use spade connectors
or similar as I want to permanently attach an iso connector to my car's
wiring.
Quick release connectors29 Oct 2007 10:48 GMT12
Got hold of an air compressor and various bits :) Problem is that the
quick release fittings that came with it (they are the BE-23 type on
this page: http://www.airlink-compressors.co.uk/Fittings/Couplers.htm)
are fine when you screw them onto tools / hoses (with PFTE tape) but ...
Land Rover sluggish starting when cold29 Oct 2007 10:00 GMT24
I have a 2.5 diesel engine in a Land Rover Series 3 that I got from a
friend who was fed up with its reluctance to start from cold. Having
spend most of the weekend rewiring it, I'm now pretty fed up too.
For some reason, the starter really struggles to turn the engine when
car insurance question29 Oct 2007 06:42 GMT5
This might sound really simple to everyone on here but never mind!
I only started driving 2 years ago and am about to switch insurers for the
3rd year. What happens if I have a claim in my 3rd year? I suppose the
insurers will want to see my documents from the first 2 years to ...
Corsa 51 plate 1.2L gearbox problem29 Oct 2007 00:06 GMT4
A mate has been told that he needs a new gearbox on his 50000 mile
Corsa. He was having gear selection problems and had the linkage
replaced recently.
Anyone heared of gearbox failures or is the dealer lifting his leg?
escort brake question(s)28 Oct 2007 17:31 GMT8
ok - when cold the off rear brake makes a grinding sound (but only for a few
minutes a day) so today I had the drum off to have a look fully expecting to
replace the shoes, the trailing shoe was worn more than the leading shoe and
both shoes had a glazed look (I was expecting to ...
Is it me?28 Oct 2007 15:44 GMT10
I emailed my local Toyota dealership yesterday to request a part for a
Starlet and got this back:
"Hello Sir
With reference to your enquiry
