Xantia broken cambelt12 Nov 2007 12:03 GMT7
The cambelt on my friend's P-reg Citroen Xantia (1800 petrol manual) has broken. It broke just after pulling away from a parking space.
Does anyone know if this will have b*gg*red anything up in the engine, like valves meeting pistons etc., or will it in effect just be
a new ...

VW TDI Question11 Nov 2007 21:18 GMT9
This morning my VW TDI  began a squeaking noise, I think it was from the
drivers side.
When the vehicle is stationary or  moving at very low speed this noise it
present.  There is no squeaking noise at normal driving speed, this seems to

Strange 'tinkling' rattle on Ford Ka11 Nov 2007 19:29 GMT4
I realise this is probably an overlong and daft question but I just
wondered if anyone on the forum had any ideas. My friend's Ford Ka has
an annoying 'tinkling' rattle. It sounds very much like a length of
unsupported brake pipe vibrating against the body for a few seconds
Renault Megane main beam issue11 Nov 2007 15:03 GMT2
Before delving into the unknown too far, we have a Megane where the dipped
bean won't switch to the main beam.  Yet the main beam still works if you
flash the headlights.
First thought is a potentially blown fuse though I am surprised the main

Dropped torque wrench10 Nov 2007 22:30 GMT9

Reversing sensor fitted!!!10 Nov 2007 22:27 GMT31
When I bought my wife a Lexus we found that it was extremely difficult to
judge where the rear end was, so I bought a T23P reverse sensor, this is the
type that has a silver strip to fit inside the plastic bumper.  Three years
later I fitted it, it was simple and quick to fit and ...
Car light when ignition off?10 Nov 2007 10:47 GMT6
Ford Fiesta 1.8 Azura 1994.
I'm pretty sure when the light switch is on, and the ignition is off
(with key out), the front lights would stay on in side-light mode.
They're not now. The rear lights remain on.

Tracking gauges - WTF??09 Nov 2007 22:06 GMT12
Just had a look round the tool sites and Fleabay for a drive-over
tracking gauge.
They all seem to be £45++ - seems like a ridiculous amount for what it
does. Is it just because there's a limited market?

Impact wrench woe09 Nov 2007 01:29 GMT5
My impact wrench refuses to turn, lots of air escaping at the exhaust
(which btw is handily just over the trigger so you get oil all over your
hand!). I took it apart but everything looked OK aside from that the
vanes weren't extended so I extended them manually in case that was ...
