Auto box and brake servo woes13 Dec 2007 17:18 GMT7
2.0 VVTi Toyota Avensis Estate 51 plate (Nov 2001) with 81,285 on the clock
Firstly, when I put my foot on the brake pedal I can hear a hissing sound.
I'm told that this is a problem with the brake servo and that I need a
repair kit. I only found this out tonight so haven't had a ...
Second Brand tyres13 Dec 2007 00:51 GMT26
A tyre place recently mentioned the names of Pirelli and Michelin Second
Brand tyres but I lost the note I made.
Does anyone here know the names of Pirelli and Michelin Second Brand tyres?
Thanks
Pug 406 keys12 Dec 2007 23:10 GMT15
Ok I've lost my spare, I think it was in the jacket that vanished out of the
back when I drove home with the tailgate partly open (carrying a bed if you
must know). Anyway SWMBO takes the remaining key to Peugeot today who say
it's laser cut and will cost £140 to replace! ...
Was: Leaking fuel cutoff valve (but isn't).12 Dec 2007 22:00 GMT13
I got a chance to have a look for the diesel leak on my 1900 Pug lump
(in a Rover 218SD)  in the daylight today and it looks like I was
close re the leak area but not the actual point (not bad from just
seeing diesel on the ground eh) ;-)
Car Omitting Sulphur Type Smell.12 Dec 2007 20:21 GMT13
I have a 52 Astra that seems to omit a strong sulphur type smell after even
the shortest of trips.
Anyone any explanation as to what may be causing this.

Heater blower won't work Citroen Saxo- solution12 Dec 2007 18:26 GMT4
Thought I'd post this in case anyone searches usenet.
The blower is in a circuit from the alternator via the ignition
switch. It will only work when the ignition is on And the engine is
running. This makes some sense, as you don't want it sapping power

Jeep Cherokee - maintenance & costs11 Dec 2007 19:24 GMT6
Thinking about buying one of these, as a practical second car, load-carrier
& tow-truck.
The interweb seems to think they're practically bombproof - simple, solid
engine & drivetrain, no tinworm problems, tough if nasty interior.   Then

Micra rear brakes11 Dec 2007 17:58 GMT7
Just took the boys Micra down for MOT and all it failed on was the rear
brakes low efficiency. The handbrake passed the test fine though so the guy
reckons it's wouldn't be the shoes, possibly leaking cylinders? It's
absolutely pissing it down out there today so I'm not gonna ...
For the electronics bods again - MK2 Golf Clocks. Again11 Dec 2007 14:29 GMT7
Since my last post on the matter (MFA computer and Rev counter not working
(but the digital clock is), and no oil warning lamp, most likely due to the
battery being connected backwards, however speedo, alternator warning,
indicators, headlamp lamp, fuel and temp gauges etc. all work ...
Ka can't see oil level on dipstick11 Dec 2007 13:07 GMT15
We just acquired a nice 2001 Ka.
Checking the dipstick, oil is smeared all the way up, denser at the
bottom , and thinner about 3cm above the max line. I don't think the
engine is overfilled - it is more likely the dipstick tube is full of

Toyota servicing could have killed me.  Can I get a refund?11 Dec 2007 00:20 GMT81
I got my Toyota car serviced at a main dealer (Lookers Rayleigh), and
this included an MOT and brake fluid change.  The brakes were OK
driving to the garage and for the MOT.  When I was driving back from
the garage I noticed they were a bit spongy, and then about 10 miles
Really Need Your Help10 Dec 2007 23:59 GMT6
I'm Gareth. I live in the UK & I'm married with two boys aged 4 & 6.
I've just found out that my wife has been defrauding the company she
works for, has lost her job and criminal proceedings will be issued
against her unless the amount obtained is paid back in full ASAP.
