Warranty company hassle - No, really07 Dec 2007 18:53 GMT25
Our car has a warranty and is having a valve replaced.
The mechanic is liasing with the warranty co and they are refusing to pay
for new cylinder head bolts, which are apparently essential.
I have told the mechanic to crack on with the job and I will make up any

Lent my axle stands to someone and am having difficulty getting them
back.... need to replace my front pads so is it reasonably safe to do
that without stands - I could use both my bottle jack and the emergency
jack I guess - ??
Paint on rust converter07 Dec 2007 13:11 GMT13
I would like to use a paint on rust converter to deal with surface
rust on the underneath of my van. I have tried Loctite 7503 and Rust
Doctor, but when I have used them before the rust still seems to come
back under the paint despite carefully removing as much loose rust as

Removing glowplug covers06 Dec 2007 15:43 GMT3
I have a 2ltr Astra Diesel.  The glowplug covers appear to be the push
on type (similar to the sort of things on spark plugs in petrol cars).
Should these just pull off vertically?   I ask because they don't want
to come off when I tug on them and if there is some particular way of
Warrant or No Warranty05 Dec 2007 14:07 GMT13
If a car dealer advertises on his website that all vehicles
sold come with a 3 month parts and labour warranty.
Can he then say after three weeks that certain parts
are not covered and the owner must pay towards

(ex-)Transco Transit 2 battery electrics04 Dec 2007 13:03 GMT11
I've just bought an ex-Transco Transit 100. Apart from an orange flashing
light (now gracing teenage sprog's bedroom :-)) it has various interesting
adaptations including an MOD-looking pull-down laptop shelf, a Stornoway
6000 radio, two antennae and much electrical/electronic ...
Fiesta with Endura-E engine leaking coolant - what's this part called?04 Dec 2007 02:39 GMT5
My old Fiesta (1.3 petrol Endura-E) is leaking coolant from a joint at the
top of the engine. There's a sort of aluminium dome bolted to the engine
block with two hoses going into it. The leak is at the joint between the
aluminium and the engine block. Presumably there's a gasket ...
Wanted: Supplier of Lucas alternator fan/pulley03 Dec 2007 23:48 GMT4
Good People,
I have fitted a brand new Lucas alternator I had knocking around to my
Herald. Unfortunately, it doesn't have its fan, pulley or nut -
because I robbed them ages ago for another car.
A4 troubles :s03 Dec 2007 21:15 GMT14
Hi guys I just bought the girlfriend a '97 Audi A4 1.8 20v to replace her
ageing fiesta. Unfortunatley on the drive home I realised a few issues.
1. The heater is only very mildly warm but engine temp is normal.
2. ABS light comes on if you go over around 80mph (allegedly). It only ...
1994 astra merit 1.403 Dec 2007 19:04 GMT2
The lights on the heater controls of wife's astra have stopped working.
Is this likely to be a blown fuse or a blown bulb.
If so which fuse is it or how do you change the bulb.
thanks

A friend has just bought a '97 Mondeo 1.8 diesel LX estate manual. It
came with no user manual and a few small problems - so I'm trying to
help sort it out.
