Air Compressor Recommendation26 Jan 2008 15:35 GMT42
I need (want, meh) an air compressor, but I don't want to make the mistake
of both of my neighbours in buying a 12v unit that manages to inflate a car
tyre in an hour then fails after a few months of use.
Can anybody recommend a solution?  Mains, 12v, rechargeable, it doesn't
Princess Calipers, again26 Jan 2008 13:34 GMT6
I spotted the magazine that covers them today. Apparently the two pistons
have less area than some of the original Ford calipers do, so it's all a bit
pointless. That and the Editor has obviously had woes with dust seals and
rusty pistons.
Nissan Almera Failed MOT26 Jan 2008 08:45 GMT12
Hi there, My Nissan Almera Has just failed its MOT on the offside
power steering ram leaking, however, there are no fluids on my
driveway, The power steering still works perfectly, using no fluid,
but I have been quoted £500 to replace, is this right? As it seems
Range Rover V8 camshaft change  Dave P ?25 Jan 2008 16:12 GMT22
It is a long time since I worked on one of these and I don't remember having
to change a cam.  Has anyone recently changed a cam on one of these?  It is
a 1986 automatic and needs a cam/followers.  Any ideas on whether the cam
comes out with the engine in?  (It seems like it ...
Small Hole in Headlight25 Jan 2008 15:41 GMT11
Evening,
The wifes' car has a small hole in the headlight where a stone has hit it.
It still passes the MOT with good pattern, but can get a it damp in the
winter (especially this year !).
Peugeot 106 Ignition wiring25 Jan 2008 14:57 GMT39
Hi again, can anyone advise me on the interchangeability (or otherwise) of
various parts of the ignition circuitry on this '03 plated Peugeot 106d
'Zen' ?
As mentioned in a previous posting, ignition key was stuck in barrel,

Primera flat battery revisited...25 Jan 2008 10:08 GMT1
The conclusion seems to be the battery (Halfords less than a year old) had
one bad cell.
Halfords tested the car saying there was a current leakage when ignition
off - I found that the Blaupunkt (according to their helpdesk) Woodstock

1995 Astra 1.7 TD - overheating(?) question24 Jan 2008 09:28 GMT4
I recently bought a cheap runaround after my car was written off in an
accident.  It's a '95 Vauxhall Astra  with the Isuzu 1.7 diesel engine
(turbo + intercooler).
The temperature gauge normally sits on the 90 degrees mark, the first mark
Grumbling passenger side wheel.24 Jan 2008 08:59 GMT9
The passenger side front wheel on my bird's Citroen ZX grumbles. It tends
only to grumble when you're turning right moderately hard, loading up that
side of the car - in a straight line it's generally silent.
Any ideas? Wheel bearing or something else?
Xsara HI LP (Lift) Pump24 Jan 2008 07:05 GMT13
The Lift Pump on my X Reg 90BHP Xsara isnt rnning.
Do I need to bleed the fuel system after replacing it (or is this just for
the HP side?)
TIA
One job down...23 Jan 2008 21:49 GMT5
Citroen ZX glow plugs are done. It's all a lot simpler if you take the inlet
manifold off and get some flex head wrenches for one and four. I reckon
number 4 probably never gets changed on most of them being as the car will
start fairly happily on 2 or 3...
Sodding modern cars.23 Jan 2008 17:16 GMT39
All I wanted to do was change a headlight bulb on my Mondeo but it
seems that I have to take apart the front of the car. I had to remove
the grille and then take the whole sodding headlight unit out. The only
saving grace is that Ford had the forethought to make it a tool free
