my "new" Golf Mk 423 Jan 2008 14:37 GMT14
I've just got this Golf Mk 4 TDI SE 100 which was quite a big purchase for
me, and so forgive my excitement.
I feel a bit of a traitor getting rid of the '94 Mk 3 which has been a
good friend, but I think it was the sensible thing to do, with the leaking
socket set case22 Jan 2008 21:09 GMT14
I've got a very good stanley socket set that I've had for years but the
injection moulded plastic case has almost completely fallen apart now.
Does anyone know where I might get a replacement case?  The sockets etc.
are fine.

Guess the Fault21 Jan 2008 13:20 GMT65
This might cause scratching of heads, unless there is some "more mature"
mechanics out there who might recognise this. Was it a common fault? Here
goes.

Airbags and disconnection.21 Jan 2008 12:16 GMT4
Just thought I'd ask here while I search elsewhere (daylight is ticking
away...) but is it safe to just disconnect the single wire that comes up
from the steering column and connects to the airbag assembly?
I'll measure the voltage and provided it's zero and provided I find
Nissan Micra engine cut out20 Jan 2008 22:32 GMT6

Mondeo exhausts - what fits what?20 Jan 2008 21:58 GMT4
I'm after a new exhaust for my Mondeo - or possibly a 2nd hand stainless
jobbie. I know I could just get the standard bits but I feel like having
something with a bit more flow and a bit more of a low grumble to it.
Sad, I know. But...
Nissan Micra. Is this a clutch problem?20 Jan 2008 16:34 GMT7
Hi, I have a Micra with a manual gearbox. Recently when driving the
car out of the garage and then pulling away I get this tinny
vibration, a bit like something rubbing on a coil spring. This happens
from when the clutch is half to fully engaged. Does anyone know if I'm
Wire stripper20 Jan 2008 14:08 GMT22
Anyone recommend a decent automatic wire stripper, mainly for use with
electronics projects and automotice work ? (occasional use but frequent)
Time to put the old stanley knife away before I hurt myself trying to splice
a wire :)
BMW Wheels19 Jan 2008 22:27 GMT7
I'm on the look-out for a set of 5 imperial-size alloy wheels for my '95 BMW
525 Touring (E34). The ones that are on it are the metric ones, and I'm
having real problems finding tyres for it.
Something like 225/55 R16 would be ideal...I don't need anything fancy.
Exchange turbo?19 Jan 2008 20:35 GMT21
Oh, arse. The Saab seems to have become a two-smoke...
It's smoking VERY heavily on idle, over-run and pull away - I reckon the
oil seals have just died in the turbo.
Anybody got good/bad experiences with any of the turbo recon suppliers?

Hia peeps,
               I currently own a 1.6 8 valve astra estate, (1999) which
isn't the quickest car to put it mildly.
As I am entering my middle chrisis I want something a bit quick, but don't
I want to deactivate car immobiliser18 Jan 2008 16:37 GMT2
Still battling with power draining from my Rover 220 battery.
Removed the fuses for everything except car ignition, and the drain seemed
to stop
But unfortunately to actually start the car I had to replace the one fuse
