Windscreen washer mpotor packed up14 Mar 2008 14:00 GMT11
The windscreen washer motor on my oldish Audi 100 has packed up, or at
least there is a very limited flow.  This is the type which is
separate from the washer fluid reservoir and has two feed pipes - one
from the reservoir and the other to the windscreen.  Power is
Failure mode of electric fuel pumps?14 Mar 2008 11:48 GMT1
In general terms, what is the most common mode of failure of electric
fuel pumps?   More noisy operation followed by sudden total failure?
When a car fires OK but occasionally won't start, is this indicative
of imminent fuel pump failure or more likely electric/ignition
Battery is only 20Ah14 Mar 2008 03:37 GMT5
I bought a cheapo battery for my old 1.8 Sierra a few days ago. It was only
£24 and to my surprise only 20Ah Had "37 amps" in brackets which I presume
is the cranking current. The old battery was rated at 44Ah and the even
older one in the garage was the same. It surprised me a 20Ah ...

I have a Ford Escort 1998 with creaky front suspension.

sounds a bit like the suspension is dry.

Zafira wiper arm swap13 Mar 2008 11:51 GMT4
I have a 2001 Zafira which came with a LHD wiper pattern from new, which
sweeps the passenger side right up to the pillar but leaves a wedge of
unswept screen on the driver's side. I have noticed that new Zafiras
have the correct RHD wiper pattern and would like to convert mine. ...

Hello, I do not know much about cars and need advice.
I purchased a 1995 Chevy Lumina 3 years ago.  I paid
$2500 for it.  Since then, I have put about $3000 into
it for various repairs.  In January, it would not start.  I had

Recommend a good fault code +OBD reader12 Mar 2008 11:58 GMT2
After having decided to ditch our old 306, the car we're looking at
getting should have OBDII (it's an 05 model petrol Focus).  I thought
that it would be good to invest in a fault code reader early on, rather
than have to panic buy (and wait for delivery) when we actually need ...

Hi. I have a Fiesta 1.3 Endura....... the radiator fan doesn't work,
causing the engine to boil if left running.  Is this an easy fix?

Alloy Wheel Refurbishment11 Mar 2008 17:44 GMT3
Recently bought a P11 Primera with lovely alloys bar one which has gone very
furry around the rim and generally lets down the whole car. My old man had
one of his caravan alloys refurbished after he kurbed it and it cost him
about 50 quid but that was up in South Wales which is a ...
Mazda or Vauxhall?11 Mar 2008 16:47 GMT6
OK, from a serious home mechanic perspective ( I keep cars around 10
yrs and they only ever see a garage for an MOT ) which would you
advise interms of reliability, spares costs and ease of work:
Mazda 6 TS2 or Vectra 2.2 Design ( Both petrol )
Ford Focus - dual mass flywheel questions11 Mar 2008 15:04 GMT2
Over in uk.rec.cars.misc I asked about recommended family cars and ended
up being recommended the Focus Zetec, with a number of people
recommending the TDCi.  After some homework, we seem pretty happy with
getting a Focus Zetec - just trying to nail down which engine, age,
Exhaust for Daihatsu Hijet11 Mar 2008 09:06 GMT2
I have a problem with the mid to rear section of the exhaust on my
1997 1.0 hijet van. The end of the rear silencer box has fractured at
the junction with the tailpipe, and the junction between it and the
cat section is badly rusted. I might be able to separate them and if I
