pump had cracked and leaked oil all into the alternator.
The replacement unit i used was a reconditioned unit from a highly

Help - Tyre Valve Caps Won't Come Off!10 Mar 2008 18:49 GMT16
When I bought my car last August I bought some nice matching blue alloy tyre
valve caps.  Tasteful?  Maybe, but they look nice and match well!
Fast-forward to last week and they've stuck.  Really stuck.  At the 12,000
mile service the garage couldn't remove them no matter how they ...

Cool little ride
First off, this is a very nice little car. For most people, it is more
than enough in terms of performance. The handling / balance isn’t
quite what the 3-Series offers, but it’s still very agile. And the
Paging Pete M - re Mondeo problem07 Mar 2008 23:35 GMT1
Remember the problem, no reading on the speedo at any speed, auto
would not change up to top gear and any gear changes were "clunky" for
want of a better expression.
Well my mate, who is not a mechanic but considerably more use than me,
Damaged new wheel bearing?07 Mar 2008 21:30 GMT2
I fitted a new wheel bearing to our Multipla (rear) the other day.
As I was tightening the hub nut I noted that resistance was happening
earlier than I would have expected and I couldn't turn the hub.
On undoing I noted that parts weren't as they should be in that the
Hub nuts07 Mar 2008 21:20 GMT6
When the HBOL says that front hub nuts (in this case a Micra's hub nuts) are
really tight, are they talking an 8' scaffold pole slid over a 1/2" ratchet,
or just tight enough so that a big strong Mungo could undo them with just
the ratchet and his mighty biceps?
Strange smell from engine bay...07 Mar 2008 19:21 GMT3
Ford Fusion 1.4 TDCI, 53 plate, 58k on the clock.
I've recently started noticing a sort of paraffin- like smell coming
from the car's engine bay.  I've had a *quick* look and shone a torch
around to see if there's any signs of leakage/ fumes, but haven't
