Vauxhall Omega Fuel Guage - Not reading "Full" when tank brimmed ?30 Jun 2008 21:25 GMT1
I have a V plate Vauxhall Omega 2.5 V6.  I noticed this gremlin last
time, but just thought I was too frugal filling it up !, but I brimmed
the car FULL with fuel today and the fuel guage again fails to read
Full.  It seems to settle at 60ltrs with the needle at about the 1
Removing sprayed fence treatment mist from car (paint + plastics)30 Jun 2008 21:22 GMT4
I used a sprayer to apply some fence treatment over the weekend, but I
didn't bargain on the distance that the mist it generated would travel,
nor that our car was probably too close to it!
As a result, I discovered on Sunday that our windscreen had lots of
Mondeo 2 and 2.2 engines30 Jun 2008 20:17 GMT13
Considering of buying one of the following.  Are there any particular
issues with the 2.2lt diesel, and 2.0lt 130BHP diesel or 2.0lt petrol
engine as fitted in the more recent 2006-07 (previous model) Mondeos?
Anything bad to watch out for in these models?
Wheel hub temperature.30 Jun 2008 17:50 GMT1
I felt the ends of the front driveshafts on my FWD car, where they're bolted
to the wheel hub with a split pin, to see how hot they got after a drive.
How hot is normal? These were almost too hot to touch. I wonder if most of
the heat comes from the wheel bearings or the brakes, ...

I was just checking a battery I have and it says it has 10.55v on the
multimeter is that enough to crank a car ?
or does it need a charge ... I was thinking if I put it back in the car and
take it for a drive the alterntor might bump it up a bit or is the
CV joint boots30 Jun 2008 13:46 GMT10
How much of a PITA are these to swap? One's gone on my bird's ZX, and with
the rust on the underside I'm thinking that the scrapyard may be the best
option come MOT time...
Exhauster29 Jun 2008 23:36 GMT3
Just been looking through the manual of my 1987 LT van and came across
something called an "Exhauster" bolted to the top of the engine. Never heard
of one of these before. Could someone tell me what it does?

Corsa B: New Ignition Barrel & Key29 Jun 2008 10:04 GMT4
My Corsa B has had a new ignition barrel & key, but I understand the new Key
needs to be coded to work with the ECU/Immobiliser.
Is they a Vaxhall only job, or is there a manual method?

BMW Service Accident Aftercare28 Jun 2008 13:45 GMT10
Just got an Accident Aftercare card in the post from my dealer.  Basically it
"supplements my existing motor insurance", and they'll:
o Recover your damaged vehicle, take it to our BMW Approved Bodyshop and
undertake full management of the repairs
Mondeo - new water pump, now runs hotter...28 Jun 2008 10:13 GMT7
I've just had the cambelt kit and water pump replaced on my Mk 1 Mondeo.
The system was refilled with 50/50 antifreeze, which is about what it had
before.
I noticed on the way home that it runs hotter now than it did before -
Astra again, unresolved problem28 Jun 2008 08:52 GMT4
my old but keeps going R reg Astra 1.4.  135,000 miles.
Last year it got a serious problem of randomly losing the engine for a few
seconds.  Just instantly off, then instantly on again.  It got so bad I
called the AA out after a frightening drive to work one morning.  Eventually
Astra idle speed control valve28 Jun 2008 01:00 GMT7
my Astra 1.4 (R reg, last of the old types) has a knackered idle speed
control valve.  I've had it disconnected the past year, preferring my heel
and toe skills (til it warms up) to forking out 60 quid for a new one.  (Or
so I was quoted I think).
