V5C update on engine replacement26 Jun 2008 19:37 GMT2
I had an exchange engine fitted about a month ago and sent off my V5C to
DVLA with the new engine number, a covering letter and the receipt from
the garage that did the work as proof of the new engine number.  It's
still not come back after nearly four weeks.
Astra Clutch - Judder26 Jun 2008 13:56 GMT3
My mate has a 1.4 Astra Club  (06) and has a problem with clutch judder from
cold. He has been in contact with the dealer who has said that Vauxhall will
fund 90% of a replacement. (He has been raising the concern for 18 months)
Clearly there is a known problem - does anyone have ...

Rear light contacts25 Jun 2008 22:09 GMT13
Been having trouble with my rear lights. (BMW 318i 1992)
Brake lights have stopped working and one indicator went dim all due to bad
electrical contact between the bulb holder and the light cluster. One brake
light I couldn't remove the bulb holder as it had welded itself in.
VX Astra 1.6 (2006) sxi,  Petrol smell inside25 Jun 2008 09:50 GMT3
There is a strong smell of petrol inside the car after periods of standing,
will be taking it to the dealers soon, but when I take it in, I want to know
if they are being honest and up front with me as to causes,  I have also
noticed reduced petrol consumption, but not to any ...
Corsa earth fault24 Jun 2008 19:18 GMT9
51 reg Corsa... Apparently (not seen it yet) it's developed some odd
symptoms. Those are that when it corners hard the brake warning light
temporarily comes on, obviously that's low brake fluid. Then a couple of
minutes afterwards all the dashboard indicators (warning lights, ...
Dud alternator24 Jun 2008 16:02 GMT13
I have just fitted a battery to the Herald for the first time in 8
years (long restoration with the end almost in sight). When I do, the
"indicator light" output of the nice brand new Lucas LRA100 goes to
+12V instead of the expected 0V - I've checked it under load, so it's
driving downhill - fuel consumption22 Jun 2008 20:06 GMT139
Do you save fuel by taking the car out of gear going downhill or would
that actually use more fuel?
406 HDi - vibration / resonance22 Jun 2008 19:55 GMT4
My 406 HDi 110 is pretty quiet and refined for a diesel, *but* when driving
uphill or in fifth at around 60 (and therefore giving it a fair bit of
throttle) between 1800 and 2000 revs it's not. The car sounds noticably
noisier than at any other point in the rev range, more ...
Brake squeal22 Jun 2008 14:21 GMT2
I have an older Micra, J reg, old body shape.  After several miles I am
getting a squeal from the front offside (I think)  The slightest touch on
the brakes and the noise stops for a few seconds then starts again.  My
immediate thought was brake squeal, but why does it take as ...

getting a plastic IBC container to store water in, the measurements are
about four foot square, weight wise its just a plastic base plastic

BMW shoot themselves in the foot21 Jun 2008 17:25 GMT8
The latest TV ads for BMW say that their cars are ED which they say stands
for Efficient Dynamics.
Strange, because I thought that ED stood for something a little different,
mind you it seems appropriate for BM drivers in general.
I WANT TO TEACH MY HUSBAND A LESSON ABOUT LEAVING ME HOME ALONE ALL     THE TIME BY CHEATING ON HIM.. ANY GUYS INTERESTED?21 Jun 2008 15:31 GMT2
I want to teach my husband a lesson about leaving me home alone all
the time by cheating on him... any guys interested?
My husband goes out of town on business all the time. I think he
cheats on me when he is away, because when he gets back he is never
How to remove dried seagull $hit21 Jun 2008 11:43 GMT18
The local seagulls have emptied their bowels onto my car (again) and the
stuff has set hard on the paintwork.   Apart from elbow grease and lots of
hot soapy water, is there a proprietary compound one can use to soften and
dissolve the crap?   I'm wondering if drain-unblocking fluid ...
Help required. Car tottally dead.21 Jun 2008 11:05 GMT21
Came to my car this morning and the red door light wasn't flashing odd I
thought. Then tried to open the car with the remote and no luck. Only
other way into the car was the boot, so I crawled in and got to the
drivers seat everything was off, time mills done etc. Put the key in ...
