I have a Honda Accord 2.0i (1999), and just had some work done, new
battery, new discs, changed the timing belt and various other things,
basically a few big maintenance jobs but nothing too out of the
ordinary. Anyway runs a bit more nicely now but the cruise control
Mini Cooper S stereo08 Jun 2008 18:04 GMT1
My wife's Mini Cooper S stereo switches on and off randomly (without
touching on/off button) can happen when ignition is on or off. I have
even removed the fuse and it still works!! (and still turns itself on
and off)
Cracked Tyre Wall08 Jun 2008 16:38 GMT31
My campervan has been standing unused on the drive for a few years and I'm
getting it MOT'ed next week. All looks ok, but I intend to replace at least
a couple of tyres when its passed. One tyre has a crack in the sidewall
around most of its circumference, but none of the ...

Anyway, in the Haynes manual, the torque routine is : 40nm, 90 degrees

What are the chances he got away with it?08 Jun 2008 14:51 GMT10
Last night I heard some noise outside and looked to see about 6 youths
pushing a Renault Megan. A bit later I saw they had only got about 50m
up the road. After a word with a neighbour walking her dog they tried
bump starting it backwards but it just slid on locked wheels. Went and
Simple bit of preventative maintenance...08 Jun 2008 13:52 GMT1
If I had used my headlight adjustment control regularly then I might have -
1. Found a problem during warranty, or
2. Have prevented one of the headlights getting a bit stubborn to adjust
(without a well aimed thump)

I must have pissed god off...07 Jun 2008 22:31 GMT7
Last week, I put a new exhaust on the ZX. £90.
Today, I put new disks and pads on - about £70 worth.
Now the f.cking things are binding on both sides. They're a bit of an odd
design - pads fit onto pins which you knock out of the caliper. Any usual
lead acid batteries / topping up07 Jun 2008 20:39 GMT33
I'm a bit crap on the chemistry side of things, but we use a lot of
wet cells (i.e. several thousand of them) at different sites.
I've been wondering whether water filtered using a reverse osmosis
unit (typically comes out as laboratory / food grade pure water), and
anyone had one of these things? Starcraft07 Jun 2008 08:17 GMT32

Programming Ford Fiesta 57 Keys06 Jun 2008 11:26 GMT3
My Ford Fiesta 57 remote key was stolen last weekend. I have the master
(non-remote) key (with W1 on the blue inset). My local dealer has quoted £50
to cut a new remote key, but needs a day in the workshop to reprogram it. As
a driving instructor I can do without losing a days ...
306 heater blower fault - part 205 Jun 2008 17:52 GMT5
well I got round to looking at this the other day and it seems that a
dodgy relay was causing the problem. I dropped a replacement in and the
fan worked straight away.
However, there is some heat damage to the vertical pin on the relay I
