I have just aquired a Beetle (1961) which has a 1963 plate (the newer
style XXX 000 A).  I believe the newer style plate was introduced in
Feb 1963 to Dec 1963 so the car should in fact have the traditional 3
letter 3 number (3x3) plate.  I have checked the chassis number and it

I had the clutch replaced 10000 miles ago. Fot first few months all ok but

Pug 206 Cyl. Head probs 1.102 Jun 2008 19:23 GMT4
Hi , I have been offered a V reg 206 and it has a serious problem. No
acceleration and showing mayo round the oil filler ( hardly gets to 50mph)
Is this likely to be a simple cylinder head gasket or does it sound
more serious than that ? The lass that has it reckons she has ...

My daughter lives some distance away and wants me to check her engine oil
when she comes over with her newish car.
I would like to have some oil in stock in case it needs it (she does a high
mileage). She can't find an obvious recommendation in the books.

I've finally got the head back on my Skoda, and started up for the first
