Airline Quick connectors10 Jul 2008 23:39 GMT9
I always find the quick connectors on my compressed air line leak a fair
amount of air. I can never get a seal that doesn't hiss. I've tried a few
different makes from cheap to PCL. Not a massive problem, but compressor
comes on more often than it needs to.
Mis-fill petrol car with bio-ethanol?10 Jul 2008 23:37 GMT9
What's the likely damage / recovery strategy if a petrol car is filled
with a tankful of bio-ethanol?   (Morrison's finest E-85, which is AFAIK
85% plant-derived ethanol, 15% petrol).

Car air filter/ box question09 Jul 2008 21:31 GMT7
Why is the air filter box so much bigger on modern cars than it used to be?
Is it to do with fuel injection? What is the science behind the changes?
Pirelli Tyres09 Jul 2008 14:30 GMT7
Shite? The ones on my 406 certainly seem to be a bit teflon, particularly
under hard braking.
Leaking windscreen Seal09 Jul 2008 11:25 GMT3
The bottom drivers side corner of my windscreen rubber is leaking. Anyone
tried stuff they would recommend. Preferably black. I have some excellent
not setting sealant (IDL99), but it is a 'orrible grey colour and will look
terrible if I smear a line of that into the corner of my ...
Airbag deployment sensitivity09 Jul 2008 01:26 GMT14
At what sort of speed collision is an airbag supposed to deploy. My
wife had a decent size shunt yesterday, hit her chest on the sterring
wheel etc, wrecked the front end, but the airbag didnt go off.
Sending a towbar to the US.08 Jul 2008 23:29 GMT6
A pal in the US wants a towbar for his E39 tourer. And they simply aren't
available in the US (he says) as BMW there doesn't recommend towing with
one.
I've agreed to send one to him - but what would be the cheapest option
Alarm not working right after rain08 Jul 2008 19:21 GMT3
After driving through some pretty heavy rain yesterday when I came to
arm my alarm it did arm but the siren was almost silent. So I set the
alarm off and its almost silent but still audible but very very quiet.
The place I had it fitted is no longer open to ask for help. So before ...
Ford focus mpg the meter08 Jul 2008 18:51 GMT9
My 51 reg Ford focus didn't come equipped with a MPG meter, the position
where it would normally be on the dashboard is blanked off, is this
something which can be retrofitted [i.e. a vacant socket on the ecu which
one can be plugged into] if so does anyone have an idea of what ...

This is part of the gearbox mounting on a 2002 Saab 9-5 2.2 TiD.
I need a new one for what should be obvious reasons.  I can't find a 9-5
Renault Megane immobiliser08 Jul 2008 18:17 GMT8
Renault Megane 2.0 8v 1998.  Did a service and also took the battery out to
clean out all the crud that had collected there.  Got a bit dark so I left
the battery off till next morning but now car won't start and the key fob
won't operate the central locking and the immobiliser ...
German, Swedish, French08 Jul 2008 12:42 GMT3
I notice GSF are sending out stuff post free for the whole of 2008. Even low
value items. Good move I'd say. I've already spent about £120 with them
since I first discovered this a month ago.

Scraped the garages courtesy car07 Jul 2008 14:12 GMT22
I dont believe I did this.
Bit of a scrap on the door, as well as small dent. Any idea how much
roughly this is going to set me back?
I imagine the garages insurance policy has got me hammered for about
