Friend has called me this morning, his Ka is overheating. His local garage
reckons that it's the heater valve that's seized causing it.
Is this possible? The rad is only getting slightly warm. I'd have thought
thermostat..

I had a new cambelt kit and waterpump put on my Mk 1 Mondeo last week by
a friend-of-a-friend (professional mechanic, doing it in return for me
fixing his PC).

Yesterday I finally got round to replacing the CV joints and track rod ends
on the Micra, and I've only had the parts six months.
I prepared myself with a 3' iron tube, for ratchet-extending purposes, and a
proper screw-type ball joint splitter. The hub nuts were easily removed
