Diesel 2002 BMW Fault Codes31 Aug 2008 19:41 GMT1
A mate's diesel BMW 320d on a 52 plate has just had it's engine rebuilt
by a 3rd party garage after cambelt failure and we reckon it's running
really badly.
My OBDII scanner connects to it OK and shows 3 fault codes:
WD-40 and our Mr Whiz31 Aug 2008 16:25 GMT3
My 94 corolla with 105 K miles on the clock developed a tapping/clicking
sound; which to me in my ignorance sounded like a tappet or small end.
So it's round to our local ' Mr Whiz',  who listens, listens more, revs up
and listens some more.
Air Cond31 Aug 2008 13:42 GMT5
Drove my daughter's car today and found the air cond not working. Looked
under the bonnet and the compressor clutch wasn't engaging. Swapped some
fuses and relays and its clutch energised. Swapped the parts to the original
places and it is still working - however, the air is not ...

oil analysis - traces of silicium and aluminium particles indicating wear30 Aug 2008 15:42 GMT42
I 'm sorry that I need to post again on this topic, but last time this was
discussed I did not dare do anything about this engine problem.
I had my engine oil checked out in a oil laboratory, since I suspected
something was wrong with my engine. This was in october 2005. Silicium
ZX diesel throttle cable29 Aug 2008 19:11 GMT3
I think SWMBO's ZX 19D needs a new cable. I adjusted it about 2 months
ago due to lack of oomph [1] and slackness in the cable. This made a huge
difference but the slackness and lack of go have returned and I am
running out of adjustment. I presume this means a new cable. The
compression reading - erroneous because of oil leakage ?29 Aug 2008 08:33 GMT12
This question is maybe ignorant. When you use a hi gauge to measure
compression, could it be a false result - compression too high ? There is a
scale on the hi-gauge which indicates a green zone above 10 bar and below 15
bar, readings outside this zone are marked in red.
Astra wheel sizes (Time to look stupid)28 Aug 2008 20:32 GMT4
I have an Astra 'F' series (?) 1993 fitted with alloys that I want cleaning.
Acquired some steel wheels off another astra so that I didn't have to rush.
It turns out that my alloys are 14inch and the steel wheel are 15inch,
anyone know if the 'centres' are the same allowing me to ...
Middle aged crisis - looking at a MGF28 Aug 2008 19:26 GMT14
A rather nice looking MGF has come up for sale locally to me, 1.8vvc, P
reg (96/97) for £1000.
I'm sorely tempted.
A quick look around the outside shows the cosmetics in reasonable order,
Ford Galaxy MK1 2.3 Petrol stalling when hot28 Aug 2008 17:15 GMT4
Got a problem with my galaxy I'm hoping you can help with.
The 1st problem I had was the power dying after about 20-30 mins of
driving.  After some hunting about in the net the most likely parts
were Coil Packs, MAF or O2 sensor.  As I was about to go on a long

Fiesta knocking - it just got terminal ...28 Aug 2008 01:55 GMT11
Further to my recent post about my knocking Fiesta Zetec engine. I guess I
now know for sure that it was a big end. This afternoon, it was still
sounding just the same. I stopped off in a garage about a mile from home to
get some petrol. When I pulled back out onto the dual ...
hyundai amica - o2 sensor and other things27 Aug 2008 16:37 GMT2
Appreciate some feedback on any of this...
1) wife's Amica is hesitating when accelerating and (I asked before)
does look like some sensor going west. As I can't get a workshop
manual for it (doesn't seem to be one), would it be "the thing" to ask
