Good People I have just fitted new rear shoes and cylinders to Micra Number 2. Instead of decent. god-fearing brake adjusters it has the spawn of satan automatic sort, and they are now, of course, fully unadjusted.

| Pug 206 over reving | 29 Nov 2008 15:29 GMT | 4 |
I bought a 206 last weekend. 1.4 on a T plate with 82K on the clock. Drove it 20 odd miles home with no problems. I've had it parked up in the drive since, as I've not taxed it yet. Started it up this evening and the revs shot straight up to 2.7K and stayed there. Turned it off then ...

| So that's where the boost went... | 28 Nov 2008 21:23 GMT | 29 |
On Saturday evening, the 900's boost went on holiday. The ghost got a bit louder, and the boost gauge only just went above atmospheric pressure. Quick look on Sunday in the rain showed that the boost pipework was all firmly in place, nothing obvious, and the various vac hoses ...

| Volvo 960 2.4 Turbo diesel | 28 Nov 2008 20:53 GMT | 4 |
Had a bit of trouble starting this thing recently. Have to turn engine about 10 times to get it to fire. Usually fires as soon as the glowplug light goes out. I've checked obvious like air in fuel line to injection pump (it has a clear section so you can look for air bubbles). ...

| Whats this Zafira warning light | 28 Nov 2008 07:11 GMT | 8 |
Bit if a dumb question I know but can't find it in the book. What is the warning light that looks like a car with a spanner sticking out of the roof? Its by the "7" on the rev counter. It comes on sometimes after a mile or so driving. Not engine management,

I've recently borrowed a 2000 model Peugeot 306 90bhp HDI whilst my other main car is off the road. I've found that on day in day out short journeys etc, it manages 43mpg. Doesn't seem too bad really.

| Astra service | 27 Nov 2008 09:53 GMT | 5 |
Hi, i just bought a new 08 Astra with 1300 miles on the clock. The service book has no service history in it yet but i wondered when it needs its first minor service. Its the first car i've owned this young and i know at one time the first oil change was at a low mileage. Is ...

| Heater plugs | 27 Nov 2008 08:23 GMT | 11 |
The heater plugs on my 10 year old Peugeot 106 are, I think, failing. The car is harder to start in the cold weather and runs a bit rough for a few seconds. But the question is - can I just put up with it, without it causing any

| Cars steaming up inside this time of year | 21 Nov 2008 21:06 GMT | 17 |
Are there any that don't? My Focus is pretty good in this respect being the newest car I've owned for a while and not afflicted by bleeding great holes in the undercarriage like the XR2i that preceded it but it still steams up inside, mainly on the front windscreen, on ...

| Total Excellium vs standard unleaded | 18 Nov 2008 11:36 GMT | 35 |
I usually fill up at a local Total station, and normally use their standard ultra-low sulphur unleaded for my 2000 Astra 1.6 16v. They also sell an "Excellium" fuel which they claim gives better MPG and more power. Just wondered if anyone who has tried it thinks it made any ...

| Silver paint | 18 Nov 2008 09:55 GMT | 21 |
Does anyone know of a product which is as good as, or close, to a chrome finish? Most silver paints I've come across are OK for Christmas holly but not for the chrome parts of a car. Plastic wheel trims seem to manage it. Rob Graham
