Drat - Focus lecky window31 Dec 2008 14:51 GMT12
Something has finally gone wrong on the Focus after nearly five years. A few
days ago when the car was all iced up I tried to open the drivers window
before it had apparently thawed out sufficiently. It grunted for a second
and then the window freed up with a pop as the ice broke ...
audi alarm madness31 Dec 2008 12:56 GMT3
1996 Audi A4 1.9TDi, 115k, factory fit alarm (afaik).  I had been
having problems starting the car, especially on cold mornings, and had
been advised that the battery was not working properly, so I changed
it on sunday there and dropped in a new one (or rather, halfords
Mk4 Fiesta heater controller31 Dec 2008 09:54 GMT12
Daughter has a '99 Mk4 Fiesta 1.25 Ghia and the heater constantly blows hot
air. I know the control valve is problematic as I've already changed it a
few years ago. I replaced it again but no joy, and web-searching pointed to
the controller PCB.

It's dark, I've no workshop manual etc etc. Lot of water loss from rear end
of engine, all over bulkhead on the passenger side. Looks like a hose has
gone..

Mondy TDCi aux belt tensioner...29 Dec 2008 20:33 GMT5
Looking like I will have to replace the aux belt tensioner on my 04
plate Mondy TDCi due to a knackered pulley bearing. Local dealership
are claiming that Ford recommend changing the crank pulley as well due
to some failing not long after.  Knowing that it's a f.cked up

DC clamp meters29 Dec 2008 17:28 GMT12
I thought a £15 clamp meter from Maplin would be great for diagnosing
current drains and voltages on my car but... it turns out the clamp part is
only for AC current. Silly me.
Are there any cheap DC clamp meters out there or are they necessarily
second hand auto gearbox29 Dec 2008 11:15 GMT5
We looking to buy a corolla about five or six years old.  Probably with a
1.3 or 1.6 engine.  Is it worth considering getting one with an automatic
gear box?   In other words is the toyota auto box any good or not?
Speedo cable, 99 Fiesta28 Dec 2008 18:01 GMT7
My missus' speedo is a bit "wobbly". I guess this is the cable playing up.
Can I grease it, or is it worth just replacing it? Is it a big job? Or, can
it be something else?
Thanks!
