Shaking steering wheel Nissan Micra15 Jul 2009 05:13 GMT15
I have a 1996 1.3 Nissan Micra which has had a shaking steering wheel
since I bought it a year ago. I have had the wheels balanced half a
dozen times at three different places, and also the tracking done, and
it is still happening. In fact, from only doing it at around 70 mph it
Mr.Clutch?13 Jul 2009 23:22 GMT47
I would be grateful if anybody would share their experiences of Mr. Clutch,
good or bad. My stepson put his Audi A6 in for a replacement clutch, having
been quoted £350 for the job. Unfortunately, once the gearbox was removed
the price rose to £1000 as it supposedly needs an new ...
Wheel compatibility13 Jul 2009 18:24 GMT12
Does anybody know of a chart showing interchangeability of *steel* car
wheels?  Which wheels can be used on which cars?  For example, do Fiesta
14" wheels have the same bolt holes as Peugeot 14" wheels?
Tia,

I couple of months ago I posted about an intermitent problem with my
1996 Corsa diesel starter. Well I replaced the starter and solenoid
with a second hand one off an old diesel Corsa I owned which had no
problems when it was on that previous car. The "new" starter was off a
Not servicing a car?13 Jul 2009 09:34 GMT48
Has anyone ever done a test of the effects of not servicing a car? I know
most of the people here will service their cars as per the schedule, but a
lot of people don't even bother with oil changes.

Cambelts...11 Jul 2009 12:54 GMT18
I'm thinking of swapping engines in my Golf. How much is there to cock up
when doing a cambelt on a twin cam engine? I'd have the thing out of the car
so access wouldn't be a problem. I'm happy doing most mechanical things but
I've never done a cambelt before...
Tyre wear and tracking10 Jul 2009 17:36 GMT16
I have a late 1980s Mitsubishi Colt that's been having some problems with
heavy wear on the outside third of the front tyres.
I put a new front tyre on in October last year from Garage A.  The existing
front tyre I think was fitted in 2006 (perhaps 8000 miles before) - it was
A6 aircon blowing hot and cold09 Jul 2009 13:35 GMT14
I have a friend with a 3 year old Audi A6 (2.7 diesel I think) that has had
a problem for a long time now with the aircon intermitantly going a bit
haywire and either blowing very hot or very cold.
Garage is at a loss as nothing shows up in the computer logs (and I guess
using torque wrench replacing thermostat.08 Jul 2009 17:34 GMT2
Today I replaced the thermostat on a 1994 toyota corolla.   The only gasket
I could see was a rubber ring that sits on the edge of the thermostat and
gets sandwiched between the engine head and the thermostat cover.
Also in the Haynes manual they said to put the rubber ring on the ...

93 Cavalier Auto 1.8 LS06 Jul 2009 23:17 GMT7
I've seen this car for sale at a local forecourt.
It has 150k on it.  Is it worth taking a closer look
or does it have a bad reputation?
Thnaks.
MOT 's06 Jul 2009 22:34 GMT12
When a car passes the MOT and a few things are listed as possibly
needing attention but not enough to fail etc. is there a record kept
on a database so that they are checked again the following year - so
that a different testing station is aware of them ?
