Is it bad practice to have your foot covering the clutch?06 Jul 2009 12:05 GMT32
I wonder if you could help settle an argument between my wife and I
(at least this one is related to cars!).
She drives with her left foot covering the clutch and says that she
was taught this technique as the correct way to drive and it helps her
IACV Mondeo 1.8i06 Jul 2009 01:59 GMT7
Me again, Now I have cured the misfire with the help of you chaps, I now
want to lower my warm tickover. It generally sits at 1000 but does
occasionally   oblige by dropping to 800. These are figures used by the
cars rev counter, but seem to be fairly consistant. I have pulled ...
Zafira idle problem04 Jul 2009 22:52 GMT1
I recently changed the air filter on a 1.8 petrol Zafira, and ever
since the idle has been poor, with the car threatening to stall, and
the power pickup is very bad from idle. I have checked the vacuum pipe
to the inlet manifold which appears OK. Can anyone suggest a further
02 1.2 SXI Corsa battery reversal.04 Jul 2009 15:08 GMT9
Daughters Ex (and good lad)  has just passed his test and has got
himself a Corsa from a dealer as per title (his Mum helped with funds,
Dad not about etc).
He's not started driving it yet but I've just found out he flattened
SOD* emissions tips ?04 Jul 2009 07:38 GMT11

My 1.9td XUD engined Xantia failed MOT today on emissions, black smoke on
acceleration (not bad though).

Ford CTX specialist03 Jul 2009 11:52 GMT7
Can anyone recommend a gearbox specialist used to dealing with the
Ford CTX gearbox please? (Ford's CVT). Preferably in north/east
London, Essex or Herts areas. SWMBO's 1997 Fiesta 1.25 Zetec has one,
and it has started to whine quite loudly, so presumably doesn't have
Clutch noise?03 Jul 2009 09:03 GMT1
I bled the brakes a couple of weeks ago (on my 2000 2.0L Focus) Zetec and
with it the clutch hydraulic fluid as it's all part of the same system.
Since bleeding the clutch fluid, when I depress the clutch pedal all the way
down, there is a distinct "rubbing" sound. If I lift the ...
Gah! Still hot and sticky!02 Jul 2009 22:36 GMT6
After much hunting about I figured out that all I needed to fix my aircon
was a pressure switch.
I got one from a breakers (with a warranty... and £10 instead of the £90
BMW wanted seemed like a good risk).
Yaris washer puzzler.02 Jul 2009 20:10 GMT6
Missus has a Yaris, front wiper works, rear wash and wipe works, but
front wash doesn't.
No sound from the pump when you operate front wash, but a whir when you
operate rear.
How hard is it to repair blown head gasket on a S reg MGF02 Jul 2009 16:47 GMT4
How hard is it to repair blown head gasket on a S reg MGF
I have had quotes from garages of £1000.
But what are the difficulties of doing it yourself.
Does the engine have to be dropped out
Free aircon improvement...02 Jul 2009 10:06 GMT1
The other day I did an oil change on my 406. The nice people who did my
clutch replaced some of the quick release fasteners for the undertray with
nuts and bolts. The end result was that the job took longer than I was
expecting, so when I needed to pick my gilfriend up from work, ...
Older Vauxhall Diesels01 Jul 2009 20:30 GMT5
Currently looking around for an older Vauxhall diesel ( 1997 -
2001 ) and in my occasionally faulty mind I seem to recall
hearing (long ago) that they were fitted with either an Isuzu
engine or ???.
