Hired one this weekend, I didn't have a lot of choice, almost all hire
cars in Italy are diseasels. I got the new Astra, not actually my choice
but all that was available at short notice.
First impressions good, nicely nailed together, had an Opel badge so it
Launch technique?31 Aug 2005 09:25 GMT252
When you fire off the traffic lights, start of a track day or go for a
quarter mile run, how do you control your launch?
I was reading an article or two, some people say its best to start in 2nd...
although I imagine that applies to extremely powerful rwd/fwd cars.
How does this work then?31 Aug 2005 06:49 GMT6
How can you measure the proper width of a wheel and tyre combination given
the tyre size and rim width?
Is say a 185/60 on a 5.5J rim going to be wider than a 165/65 on the same
wheel?  Well, yeah, 'cos the 185 width tyre bulges.

Lightweight Wheels29 Aug 2005 14:39 GMT13
Just been browsing the Compomotive website looking at wheels.  I went there
looking at the Mo design but then somebody tipped me off that their 6J 13"
CXR weighs just 4.5 kg...  6J 13", that may be perfect for the Ka.  And at
that unsprung weight.... ;)

Software remap29 Aug 2005 09:14 GMT9
Hypothetically, say I've had my engine management remapped but no other
mods, do you reckon your average dealer will notice when it comes to
servicing time? I'm talking about a remap via the car's data port BTW, not a
chip swap so there are no replacement parts at all...
