Feckin corroded bleed nipples28 Apr 2008 19:26 GMT15
Did an oil and filter change on the 306 and I thought I'd renew the
brake fluid as well; I've not done it in the two years I've had it and I
don't know how long it's been in there overall. I reckon it's got some
water in as it *is* prone to losing the brakes after a bit of heavy ...
Another morning of car shopping28 Apr 2008 09:23 GMT28
Went to have another look at the 120d and also at the 520d, V50 and Jag
X-Type 2.0D today.
The 120d is growing on me. ES spec. with 'Dynamic' pack is quite nice
and only needs cruise adding to put it at the spec. I'd want. quite
Speedo corrector.27 Apr 2008 19:32 GMT2
Came across this on another group. Dunno if it's available from a UK
company but they will post here at reasonable rates.
Ideal if you've changed the rear axle ratio, etc. But only works for
electronic pulse counting types.
Ambulance chasers26 Apr 2008 19:11 GMT26
There's an ad on telly at the moment for yet another firm of ambulance
chasers. It shows some gormless muppet wittering on about driving past a
school.
He then says that there were some kids at the bus stop and "perhaps the
Is an Alfa 156 a really bad idea?25 Apr 2008 18:08 GMT37
I just noticed how cheap the twin spark 156s have become both on
Autotrader and ebarf and I'm quite tempted to get one as a way of
filling the four-seater shaped hole in my fleet.
So, what does the panel say - bad idea?
Minitest: The old Grand Cherokee office barge.24 Apr 2008 20:02 GMT10
Had to shift a cartload of old PCs from the MD's daughters school to the
recyclers.
Spec 4.0 LTD
Not bad for an old P reg with 103k miles on it.
Bloody head gasket has gone.23 Apr 2008 21:44 GMT38
Or going. No steam, no overheating, but a header tank full of milkshake
and the header was pressurised enough to squeeze neat oil out of the
header tank past the very tight cap.
Nothing in the oil.
Valve stem seals23 Apr 2008 21:40 GMT8
On my MK2. I understand the gist is something to do with getting compressed
air into the cylinder to keep the valves closed - I assume there's a special
tool for blowing air into a spark plug hole? What's the rest of it - is it a
case of rocker cover off, cams off, tappets off ...

Minitest : BMW Z423 Apr 2008 13:46 GMT30
Important stuff first, hard touch dash (slightly rubbery coating), no
cupholders.
Quite good fun, actually. Not very quick, but pretty good in 3rd,
handled well but had the 18" wheels on which made it into a tramlining

My sisters 205 has landed on my drive as I'm suppose to be getting rid of it
for her.  There's something wrong with the steering but I've never
experienced it before - I assume it's just a knackered rack but wondered it
Real actual modification post22 Apr 2008 16:44 GMT6
I made all new door trims for the Landcruiser this week which makes it a much
nicer place to sit in.  And swapped the crappy 2 way speakers for some 3 way
Clarions.  Next job is to install the new Sony MP3 deck and fix the handbrake.
Forgot how much I enjoy playing with cars.
