Should have done it ages ago.28 Feb 2009 11:10 GMT68
Finally got sick of the whistling power caps on the bargain bucket Bush
28" widescreen TFT. Used to be just on start up for a couple of minutes,
then it dragged a bit longer before fading, then eventually it started
coming in and out during different programs.
My missus is officially tight.27 Feb 2009 20:30 GMT61
So tight that Tesco pay her to take away food.
Last week "happy eggs" on special. Shelf price £1.00 for 6 large eggs,
but the per egg price 4.7p
She moaned the per egg price was wrong, they gave her double the

Tarting up manky alloys24 Feb 2009 22:15 GMT3
A while back, someone posted a way to make tatty alloys look half decent
on the cheap using rattle cans and elbow grease. I'm damned if I can find
the post though.
In a nutshell, the original alloys on the MX-5 are looking a bit tatty.
Modding the Brakes.  Maybe.22 Feb 2009 23:33 GMT16
So to set the scene, I have bought a 1.1 Peugeot 106 for £650 as a
winter hack.
Trouble is, I'm actually quite enjoying it.  It has a zingy little
engine, handles entertainingly, is quite comfortable and is easy to
Success at last22 Feb 2009 21:44 GMT11
A weekend of success - finally have the SD1 running again.  There have been
numerous faults in the EFi system and I finally tracked the last one down
yesterday (dodgy wiring to the coil) and it now starts on the button :D.
Still idling a bit high but that's a typical twin plenum ...
I think I'm in love22 Feb 2009 19:24 GMT16
Gave someone a hand this week to move a newly finished shell into their
garage.
He showed me his other cars while I was there.
One of which was....

attention to where the front of the car was washing out to!

Best unmod I've done in a while22 Feb 2009 07:30 GMT2
Replaced the stupid short shift in the MX5 with a bog standard lever. Oh
joy, suddenly I've got the snick-snick-snick action back that these are
famed for and the car is actually fun to drive. Amazing how a little
thing like this can almost ruin a car.
New licences21 Feb 2009 20:29 GMT8
I must be amongst the first people to have to have my driving licence
replaced because it was too old.
The new card bit is totally different to the old one.  It only has 1
picture of my mug on it for a start.  Plus, its got a little embossed
I think I might have a plan...21 Feb 2009 13:39 GMT34
... and I think you lot might like it.
A marvellous thought appeared to me today whilst idly trying to conjure
up something to do this year, well, it started as me trying to decide
what to do this afternoon and mutated into a giant scheme which will
MOT ..... Passed.21 Feb 2009 10:16 GMT2
With the comment "Best balanced brakes he had seen in a car that old,
for a very long time".
Nice.
They do charge the full test fee, but they don't make up fail faults
58 reg Corsa Design 1.3 diesel mini-review19 Feb 2009 20:59 GMT8
Comedy 80s-style turbo lag followed by very brief but significant
shove. Random six-speed gear box with very overdriven 6th. Weird
damped off-throttle behaviour makes normal lift-off oversteer
impossible (take foot off pedal, car carries on at the same speed for
Paging the Derv Pervs.19 Feb 2009 18:29 GMT29
Right, I've ended up with a ShiteOldEscort van with a few months tax and
test. As it is vaguely motivated by Satans older method of combustion

less than 99p a litre [2]
