golf mk2 gti 3dr drivers door leak....20 Sep 2009 17:13 GMT5
Yup, the usual one. So I carried out a modification of my own, following
instructions from t'internet I have totally *covered* the inner shell of the
drivers door in waterproof duct tape, leaving only tiny apertures for
speaker cables and door fittings, and de-bunged the drain ...
FS: Winter wheels/Golf-shaped mobile road block19 Sep 2009 20:18 GMT25
Since I finally got my arse in gear and got the personal plate off the
Golf and I also got all the issues known to me sorted out, it's
obviously time to put it up for sale. Especially as the replacement is
in the offing and due to be collected next weekend.

You were right about French cars...
Tomtom voucher18 Sep 2009 21:43 GMT3
If anyone's interested, Tomtom have sent me a voucher code for £8 off
something or other from their website. Unfortunately, it can't be wasted on
ridiculous voices from Tomtom home, so I've got no use for it.
Here it is, goes off on Monday:
Just putting the feelers out......16 Sep 2009 11:43 GMT26
Would anyone of this parish be interested (or know someone who might be) in
a 54-plate (November '04 I think) Audi S4 (normal saloon, not cabrio).
Tiptronic, all the usual trimmings, and a nice cream leather interior (which
was apparently a good £2k+ worth of option when new).  ...
The Audi after a month or so, mini-review.14 Sep 2009 20:03 GMT26
Mini-mini review - It's not that bad.
Engine is smooth and quiet, quieter than the Volvo's 5 pot but I don't
know if it's as smooth, hard to tell.
Tiptronic box is good at nicely slurred auto shifts but not so hot at
If you want a laugh...14 Sep 2009 17:40 GMT3
If you want a laugh, pop over to uk.radio.amateur where there's a guy
called Chris Street who apparently has a degree in electronics,
astronomy and chemistry who claims that older engines weren't built
stronger than today and you can't modify a 70 year old engine because
I think this one will do nicely for the upcoming Swiss trip12 Sep 2009 21:31 GMT8
Again, just a little above budget:

Bleh. Still can't find anything I like for the money I'd like to pay. At
least nothing that doesn't scream "run away" for one reason or other.
What to fix before I flog?12 Sep 2009 12:37 GMT23
It is now time for my 406 to go. I need the cash, and my Golf is pretty
MOTable.
The 406 has racked up about 115k now, and has full garage history up until
me buying it. I've serviced it as per Peugeot's recommendations since. And

Now that's a proper Mafia staff car...12 Sep 2009 00:23 GMT3
While looking for cars in all the wrong places I came across this:

Mind you, the colour combination would have a colour blind guide dog
puke up its guts.
Mountain bike punctures - valve being torn off.11 Sep 2009 17:18 GMT13
I keep getting punctures on my mountain bike, where the Schraeder valve has
been pulled off the tube. Clearly, the tyre is rotating slightly on the rim
under braking, and pulling the tube along with it, which eventually rips the
valve off.
More window shopping on Pistonheads11 Sep 2009 09:58 GMT31
I know it's only a shonky old E34, but I like this:

Bit above budget though. And no, he's not fibbing regarding the top
speed.
Interesting insurance quote...11 Sep 2009 07:19 GMT29
It appears that insuring a 1997 BMW 528i Estate is cheaper than insuring
a Golf TDI. Go figure...
Mind you, an XJR is only going to be around 50-60 quid more expensive
than the Golf.
Now that's a brilliant way to sell a car...11 Sep 2009 00:05 GMT8
Someone selling a 156 JTD, ad reads like they know their way around an
Alfa (always a good thing), price a tad on the high side IMHO but it's
a very late one. So far, so good and the bidding finger is twitching.
Until I read the bit about "tax until xxx and we require pro-rated
