Shuddering Under Breaking01 Sep 2003 00:01 GMT5
After fitting aftermarket alloy wheels on my car, it now shudders noticeably
under breaking from motorway speeds and also when creeping along it squeeks
in certain places as the disc rotates. I'm assuming this is warped discs, or
could it be something on the discs such as crease or ...
New car arriving this saturday (hopefully)......30 Aug 2003 19:47 GMT12
About a month ago i was looking around for a car and i was asking for
opinions on the Lexus IS200. Most of the people felt that it was over priced
among other things....
I then started looking for something cheaper (this one cost me SGD $84k vs
Subaru Forester question30 Aug 2003 15:32 GMT7
I read in What Car that the average repair cost for a Subaru is ?1056 and
that the most common problems are with turbos and clutches.  Are these
statistics likely to be due to the majority of Subarus out there being
Imprezas and being driven fairly hard?  I'm after a Forester Turbo, ...

Manufacturers 0-62mph figures29 Aug 2003 11:27 GMT30
Are the manufacturers 0-62mph figures generally quite accurate? Some boy
racer type was questioning me about my Clio (1.2 16V Dynamique) today and as
I don't generally give a damn about such things I had no idea about most of
the stuff he was asking me.

The road safety lobby would be outraged28 Aug 2003 16:52 GMT11

This poor chap, in his own time, and through the goodness of his heart,
is helping to prevent accidents by encouraging motorists to slow down.
Exactly like speed trap (excuse me, safety camera) warning signs are
Car drying blades27 Aug 2003 19:00 GMT7
Has anyone used one of these "squeegee" blades that remove most of the
surface water before you chamois the car?
I've been thinking of buying either the Turtle wax or Auto Glym ones for
some time but my mate lent me his Auto Glym one and I tried it out

Selling an import27 Aug 2003 09:57 GMT11
My wife and I are about to buy a new car (possibly the unusual looking
new Megan hatchback!)
Our current car is a Peugeot 206 1.4 LX 3 Door, Sapphire Blue X-reg (2000).
Its been a great wee car, but we will now be looking to sell it.
Shite sony head unit27 Aug 2003 00:31 GMT9
I must admit I'm not really hot on car audio, I just like to have reasonable
quality sound and a good selection of music in my car. I had a Sony CDX-MP30
which I removed from my previous car before selling it. The new car came
with a Vauxhall CDR500 which is made by Delco. The sound ...
Safety belts26 Aug 2003 18:23 GMT15
Can someone tell me, if it is illegal to drive without a safety belt,
why don't car manufacturers make it impossible for a car to start if
you don't have your safety belt on.
Well that was fun ...26 Aug 2003 12:00 GMT4
Driving along the motorway all my instruments suddenly zeroed.
Somewhat unnerving to glance down and see that you have no fuel, no
revs and are doing 0 mph (the road and countryside however, was
getting a good clip on ...)

Car 'supermarkets'24 Aug 2003 16:41 GMT6
Anyone bought a car from one of these car supermarkets - you know, these
places which are supposed to sell all makes of cars for several grand less
than a dealer?
What are the pros/cons? Seems that alot of these places work on a basis of
