Mustang...24 Aug 2004 22:10 GMT17
My fave shape of car would have to be old style Mustangs - like the one seen
in 'gone in 60 seconds'

Which saloon, then?24 Aug 2004 13:41 GMT30
I have to choose which cars my team get from a choice of Toyota Camry,
Nissan Maxima and Mazda 6.
As these are not the types of group tests I tend to read in automobile
publications, I have no idea.
Spraying your Car24 Aug 2004 09:25 GMT28
Anyone ever tried spray painting their car - i went for a quote today to get
that panel done........400 f.cking quid he says!!!
I cant remember the details but he was saying 8 hours work at 30quid (to put
a panel on and paint it), plus I need a new panel which was something like
Insurance question24 Aug 2004 09:24 GMT5
Way back in the middle of March this year, I was involved in an accident.
Someone in a Pug 406 decided it would be a great idea to exit a from a side
junction whilst I was happily driving down the road at around 40mph.
Result: big bang, one knackered 406, one messed up Mini (mine).
HGV trainees (for Conor)23 Aug 2004 22:59 GMT12
I see quite a number of HGV trainees driving L plated lorries, but none of
them are carrying a load. Before passing the test, do the trainees drive
loaded lorries and learn about roping and sheeting? There must be a big
difference between driving a laden and unladen rig and I've ...
tyre pressures in the wet23 Aug 2004 20:06 GMT11
i had new front tyres put on my alfa the last week (b f Goodrich profilers
195/45/16) and think i've unbalanced my car a touch as the fronts now have
much more grip than the rears ,hence a 180 this morning on a roundabout,
altho it was very very greasy after no rain for a few weeks, ...
Reg Vardy US leasing23 Aug 2004 19:38 GMT4
Anyone know anything about this? How does 'US leasing' differ from the type
of leasing we now have in the UK?

Shades of Heath Robinson.
Realtime or tweaked?

Army Number Plates22 Aug 2004 21:48 GMT5
Was it true that a quite a few years back, that people in the Army had
MOD plates on thier own cars? If this was the case, why did they have
them? and why did they stop having them? Is there also any web sites
or books with a history of British military number plates?
the tailgate22 Aug 2004 11:13 GMT32
Was talking to somebody tonight about something & realised I hadnt
opened the tailgate for months - perhaps even possibly havent opened it
this year as I tend to chuck everything (like the supermarket shopping)
in the back seat as its a four door .
Porsche Cayenne22 Aug 2004 09:59 GMT117
I'd like to nominate this as the most ridiculous-sounding car ever. What
makes it even more ridiculous is that it costs at least ?35,000.
Think of one of those wooden, c1930s-50s motorboats, often seen on the upper
reaches of the Thames, the ones with the exhaust outlet right on the
car story21 Aug 2004 22:37 GMT2
Years ago me and the lads sometimes used to hang around a late night
coffee stall / burger place until all hours of the morning .
None of us worked at the time and we couldnt afford to drive around all
night burning jungle juice just for the sake of it .
esure / Michael Winner21 Aug 2004 21:11 GMT14
With reference to a previous post about Michael Winner advertising e-sure
when they don't insure people in his occupation... I sent a quick note to
ofcom in my capacity as a busybody nutcase and this is their response.
Standard waffle I'm afraid and no vindication for the person ...

peugeot 306 GTi - ratios changed?20 Aug 2004 08:12 GMT2
A question I've seen answered elsewhere some time ago, but can't find it now
on google groups.
Apparently Peugeot changed the gearbox ratios in 1997 to make the 0-60 time
faster. Any idea when in 1997 that was? was it at the same time as the shift
