Let's say a learner driver wants to order a new Car before she has passed
driving test. But she 'expects' to have passed by the time the car arrives,
given say a 12 week lead time from ordering to delivery..

ISTR that you can buy a thing which plugs into your lighter socket and
charges up (as you're driving), like your battery does. Then if your
battery fails, you put it back in the lighter, flick a switch and then
