Increased MPG23 Aug 2005 12:48 GMT10
I have a "K" Reg 1.4 Astra which I want to increase mpg. (Tight Git)
I've read a bit about Roadmaster said to increase mpg by 15%!
Anybody any experience of these?
How easy to fit?
Cost of car recovery23 Aug 2005 12:47 GMT20
Hiya
How much does it normally cost if the police recover your car ? A mate of
mine had his car stolen and he reported it to the police. He then got a call
back stating that they recovered the car and that it was burnt out etc. (
Car Inspection Report23 Aug 2005 07:59 GMT2
About to buy a S/H Focus and was wondering if these are worthwhile for
someone not that mechanically minded - for a car from a private buyer. If so
any recommended companies.
Alternatively what sort of saving is there to be had from buying at auction
Visitor to UK for 3 months - buying a car.22 Aug 2005 23:39 GMT3
Got a question for you all. It looks like I'll be coming over to the UK
for a few months a little later in the year for work. As I'll be in an
area with poor public transport and I don't fancy sitting on my arse
doing nothing when not working so I thought I'd buy a car to check the
Dull car advice wanted...21 Aug 2005 16:25 GMT4
OK, So my Bluebird is on it's last legs.
Loooong drive home last night since the radiator sprang a leak and sprayed
the coolant all over the engine bay. After several short trips between water
sources, I phoned a more knowledgeable mate who knew the old trick of
Are motorised scooters legal on the footpath?21 Aug 2005 14:23 GMT20
Last few days past the office comes this young lad with his school bag
on one of them petrol standup scooters.  He looks to be doing about
30-40mph.  I know they are not road legal since it has no number plates
or anything hence the reason he is on the footpath (it's a cycle path

the insurance brokers recomend )
Request for car suggestions....21 Aug 2005 00:44 GMT8
Okay folks, yet another request for recommendations.
I'm looking to spend 4.5-5k and want a car that's no more than around 5
years old. Will be used for commuting variable distances (say 10-50
mile round trips) and for occasional longer motorway journeys as well
"Best" oil for 1994 BMW 320i 138K mileage20 Aug 2005 23:45 GMT11
I'm about to get the oil changed at the local garage.
I'm thinking about getting Magnatec but the 320i has a 6.5 ltre sump! So
I'll have to by two lots and keep 1/2 can for the next change.
Is it worth putting fully-synth oil in engines this old?
Rover 200/25 petrol or diesel?20 Aug 2005 17:15 GMT2
Have been looking around for a Rover 200/25, I like the shape and design.
But am a bit concerned about there reputation for eating head gaskets: lots
for sale with new gaskets and saw one at the weekend with watery brown stuff
in the dipstick and no water in the header tank!
More car choices - woohee!20 Aug 2005 15:09 GMT3
I'm considering (OK, I'm bored....) replacing my Peugeot 306 GTi-6 with
something a bit smaller, bit cheaper to run, bit newer, but just as
nippy. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the Fiat Punto, partly
because they're pretty roomy for a supermini, and have been looking at
Asda Petrol/Diesel cocktail20 Aug 2005 00:15 GMT1
Don't know if this has been mentioned before. My mrs missed being a victim
of it by hours...there again, a new engine would've been nice...!

mp3 player in Seat Ibiza19 Aug 2005 21:36 GMT2
I've just bought (for September 1st) a Seat Ibiza "Award" which comes with
an mp3 player. The car I test drove - and all others in the show room - only
had ordinary CD players so I wasn't able to "test drive" the mp3 player. I
wondered if anyone on here has one of these and could ...
Mistakes on V5 - does it really matter?19 Aug 2005 08:40 GMT4
Last car they spelt my name completely wrong (the way natwest insisted
on spelling even after 3 change of name forms). This car they have
added on 'A' onto my house number.  Could I run into any problems with
this or is it just not worth the hassle of changing it?
Cost of Civic brake pads18 Aug 2005 20:05 GMT27
Seemed over the top but I have just paid £115 for a pair of front
brake pads fitted to my type-r civic.  This was about £40 for the pads
and then £60 for the fitting at the honda dealer.  Didn't have chance
to shop around as the car had been making a constant grinding sound all
