Personalised plate transfer question...12 Aug 2005 21:45 GMT9
I've just had a personalised plate bought for me for my 21st (not
something I would have purchased myself, but I can hardly say no as its
a gift!). Have no fear, it shan't be altered to say something that it
doesn't mean (although it could quite easily be...) It will be on a

Hi, just got a nearly new Focus Auto 1.6 with an O/D (OverDrive?) button on
the gearstick.  The manual just says to use this if the car is changing gear

Can anyone enlighten me as to exactly what it's for ...

Knocking noise - what's that about?11 Aug 2005 15:24 GMT5
A friend who thinks mistakenly that I know something about cars has just
asked me about a knocking noise from under the bonnet. Apparently, it's
quite light, and it happens only when the car's decelerating. Should he get
it checked out urgently or just mention it at his next MOT? ...

Recommend me my next car?11 Aug 2005 00:29 GMT46
I've currently got a 2001 Astra Coupe turbo and i'm considering exchanging.

get-up-and-go, but rear of 4WD. I would be looking at new or nearly new.
I considered the RX-8 but a drive last year convinced me that I ...

What happens if you inform your insurance company of penalty points
acquired during the term of the insurance? Do they ask you for more
money?
Quote me happy... when will they rumble it?10 Aug 2005 18:08 GMT7
For the third year in a row, my son's (NU) insurance renewal has dropped
through the door and for the third year he's gone online to NU's site
and entered the exact same info as on the renewal details and got a
substantially reduced quote.
'Riding' Speed Bumps10 Aug 2005 11:05 GMT12
I read recently in the Telegraph motoring press (Honest John) that the
best way of running over speed bumps (the ones that are just too wide
for any car) is with  one side only on the hump, the other in the gap,
(if it's safe of course) rather that the traditional everyone does it
Clio Fuel Gauge10 Aug 2005 10:49 GMT3
Hi, this is a bit of an odd question but the handbook doesn't give much away
about it!
Can anyone who owns a Renault Clio with an electronic fuel gauge tell me
when is it empty? is it when the last light is on (would that be in the red)
Want something to do with your time?10 Aug 2005 00:34 GMT13
